Do what you like. Stop hating people for their riding habits and get back to hating them for their skin color, religion, politics, and sexual orientation.

February Meeting:
The February meeting of the Tarheel Trailblazers will take place this Thursday evening, February 1st, at Jack’s on 7th Street. Meeting time as usual is 7:30 PM.  Join us as we offer our latest versions(s) of Trailblazer socks!  That’s right, new socks to keenly coordinate you with your blue or red jersey!  Produced by SockGuy, the cost is $8/pair or 2 for $15.  In addition, we still have a few Trailblazer jerseys (blue and red) that we need to move at $50 members/$65 for non-members (includes a year long membership at a $5 discount!)…We just added a new black THTB visor to the swag box, so c’mon out and drop some coins!

Trail Work at LNSP:
We have a huge trail work Day at Lake Norman State Park, scheduled for February 24th in conjunction with REI.  We’ll meet at the Itusi trail head parking lot and shuttle to the Monbo trail.  We have a goal of a 100 volunteers to really put a dent in the remaining 1.5 miles of trail.  Remember, the Monbo trail has been largely constructed with mechanized equipment, and we will be grooming the trail.  Starbucks Coffee will be on hand to distribute coffee and bottled water.  Rumor has it that Starbucks will donate $10 per volunteer.  That could be a significant fundraiser for the club.  In addition, the Trailblazers will be offering each volunteer a pair our new SockGuy Socks. Mark your calendars and come out on the 24th. For directions or more info, check out (You need to Login or Register to view media files and links)

Trail Work at the USNWC:
Join us this Saturday, February 3 as we work toward the completion of remaining 1.5 mile section of the “Figure 8”.  This construction will consist of clearing new trail, bridge construction, and armoring several parts of trails.  Additionally several other trail needs could use attention.  Please come, grab a friend and lend a hand for a few hours. It is truly amazing what can be done in 3 hours. With the knowledge of the Trailblazers, volunteers gain an understanding of sustainable trail building techniques and add to the unique singletrack trail system at the USNWC.  Please RSVP to (You need to Login or Register to view media files and links) if you will attend. We will have to prepare for the number attending. Your efforts will help in the final stage of trail connection.

5th Annual East Blvd Bar & Grill Winter Short Track Series:
This year, the event is presented by Heartwood Tree Service, the Dirt Divas and Charlotte Sports Cycling. The next race is this Saturday, Feb 3 at the infamous Renaissance Park mountain bike short track. If you haven't ever participated in the short track series, come on out and give it a try, it's an absolute blast! It takes in elements of mountain biking, BMX and a road criterium. You can use either a mountain bike or a cyclo-cross bike. After each event, we will have hot food from East Blvd Bar & Grill. We have added a new category to the event, Junior Girls. The short track is a great place for kids to give mountain bike racing a try. Invite a friend and come on out.

Membership Drive!
Don’t forget that we are currently in our membership drive!  We have had a very successful month with membership renewals and first time members.  Remember, we are only as strong as our membership.  Shear numbers catch the attention of land managers, who are constantly juggling the needs of the sporting community.  Your membership shows the strength of the local mountain bike community and helps us to keep the momentum that we currently have in our community…Your continuing support is appreciated!

Weather Conditions:
And finally, if the weather takes a turn for the worse on Thursday, we will post the cancellation of the meeting on the website by 4:00.  Let’s all hope the weather passes us by, and we look forward to seeing everyone on Thursday nite!  And as always, we thank you for your support!

I ain't scairt of no cancellation. I live close to Jacks, I got me a glacier meltin' four-by-four, and I know Jacks has generators! I remember back in the old days (like, 3-4 years ago), when we had an milk and bread shelf clearing ice storm that took out power for days. Jacks was powered up for cold beers and limited kitchen, we had about 10 die-hard 'Blazers show up for a grand ole party, and decided it was enough of a quorum to vote us all a nice phat pay raise and pay the bar tab. Or maybe it was just to buy some new tools. Whatever. See you there.

Speaking of the truckster, I once thought it would be pretty funny to get a vanity plate that said GLCRMLTR, but then I figured that most folks don't have much of a sense of humor (at least like mine), and some enviro-wack job might start flailing on my nice white pickup like it's a baby harp seal, and then I'd have to get a harpoon gun on 'em like they were endangered whales, and I sorta decided maybe we didn't need any of that.

Wow Gothic, that was some kind of thread derailment!

Hey, I was remiss in mentioning that the DIRT DIVAS are the driving force behind the workday at LNSP on Feb 24th...Sorry ladies, it inadvertently slipped by me...We are all very appreciative of your efforts and we look forward to seeing y'all on the Monbo!

The Trailwork Schedule on the front page says, "Time: Feb 23, 8:30-12:30"  Am I missing something?

I think he was going to go over to the speedway and get one of those big dryer trucks they use in the rain, and just melt a path to Jacks. I'd rather find a Zamboni to drive around out here, just fer fun.
