You can dance, you can jive, having the time of your life
See that girl, watch that scene, dig in the dancing queen

Friday night and the lights are low
Looking out for the place to go
Where they play the right music, getting in the swing
You come in to look for a king
Anybody could be that guy
Night is young and the music's high
With a bit of rock music, everything is fine
You're in the mood for a dance
And when you get the chance...

You are the dancing queen, young and sweet, only seventeen
Dancing queen, feel the beat from the tambourine

I loved Mamma Mia!!!

Yeah, I know, we're derailed here, but I was thinking it's kinda sad in a way that one of the biggest bands of its time is now reduced to playing local rural fairgrounds. They used to be able to fill any arean/stadium they wanted and sold millions of records. I'm too scared to go see the bikini contest based on what I've heard/seen of the crowd at those reunion shows for the former big hair or classic rock bands. It'll probably be she same girls that were into the band when they were big time (and now they too are reduced to playing small fairgrounds).
Back in the late 80s ,early 90s. I saw the Rod Price led Foghat at a small club in Detroit called the I-Rock. It was Rod price with a lot younger musicians. The were fairly alright, and with enough drinks they sounded like any good tribute band. Ricky Medlock was spending a lot of time in Detroit back then. He started sitting in regularly with a local band called Strut. After about a year ,they adopted the name Blackfoot. You have to look at the guys in these band and know that they skipped getting an education or adopting job skills to play in Bands. So when members die or just get too old. Touring fairs and such are their way of keeping money in thier pockets. And some of these bands are not bad if your into nostalgia. Look at Lynyrd Skynyrd. Alice Cooper has been playing the Michigan State Fair for 5 years now. He is always really good and for the $7 dollar fair admission. Abba doesn't even have any members, and their shows get a lot of people. If any of these bands play nearby at a fair or something. I'll go to that instead of paying $150 to se the Police. As far as women from those days, there are a lot of fine women in their 40s,50s, and up that I wouldn't mind seeing in bikinis. I've noticed a lot of these women on the trails  Tongue Now ,the ones who like Abba, I'd have to think about those for a sec........yeah ,they would be cool also:)

Hey Everyone! This should be an event to remember!! If all goes well we may be able to do this for many years to come! The talent on the bill is amazing! I guarantee it will be a good time and we'll hopefully raise some funds and recognition for the Trailblazers. Anyway, come check out our band The Accentrix and all of the other bands on the bill. My wife and I are old school associates of the Trailblazers and I've spent many an hour building and maintaining trails in the Charlotte area back in the mid 90's when I lived there. I look forward to meeting you!

Hey everyone!
Tomorrow (Sunday) at 8:30 pm 106.5 The End in Charlotte will play an interview about the Fat Tire Music Fest and they will be playing music from some of the bands on the bill. Paul made a couple of plugs about the Trailblazers and Dirt Divas and even read a paraphrased version of the "goal" as stated on this website. You can hear it at 1065.com if you are a fan that is out of the listening range of the station.
The DJ Divakar did the interview, and he is a really nice guy who showed us around all of the radio station. They share a space with The Fox (99.7) Home of John Boy and Billy. We actually parked NEXT to Raiford's parking place (not in it because he'd get cranky). Anyway, hope you enjoy the interview and music if you're able to hear it!! They will be playing tracks from James Deem, The Accentrix (our band), Carmona, and Blanco Diablo. Please come out to the festival if you're available! Tickets will be $8 at the gate. Hope to see you there!

Much Love!

Just a reminder that the Fat Tire Music Festival is THIS COMING SATURDAY, June 16, 12:00 noon - 8:00 PM.  8 bands will cover 8 music filled hours!

Coolers are welcome!

As always, we are in need of some assistance to provide information concerning the Trailblazers and Dirt Divas.  If you have a couple of hours to spare, we'd appreciate any volunteers that would be willing to help...

Volunteers, please contact me at:  (You need to Login or Register to view media files and links)

See ya in the mosh pit on Saturday!

I just heard that there will be at least one special guest at the show. Tom Constantin from the early days of the Grateful Dead is supposed to play with the first band at noon, Able Bodied Posse. I think Tom may have been the Dead's first keyboard player. Anyway, all of the talent should be great, so come check it out and help out the Trailblazers at the same time.

Hope to see everybody at the shows! Come on out after you ride on Saturday.    Frank P.

Tom followed Pigpen after he died in '73.

The 1st Annual Fat Tire Festival was a huge success!  Paul Hendricks and Dave Carmona put together a terrific line-up of local talent and brought them together in a cool festival atmosphere.  Infinities End (thanks Frankie) played host to the festival and the result was nothing short of phenomenal!  The local music scene is one that really deserves some attention...Although (due to a prior commitment) we had to leave at the halfway point of the show, it was really on a roll and I'd love to hear how the rest of the show went...

A few photos:

Seems like everyone had an excuse for free entrance  Wink

The Able-Bodied Posse opened the show...

They were a dreamy, eclectic mix...

Charlotte resident, Tom Constantine, former keyboard player of the Grateful Dead sat it with the 'Posse....

Unfortunately, we didn't get any photos of James Deem, who played a bouncy set of Beattlesque, pop rock...

Here, yours truly makes his singing debut with WSNB  Wink

WNSB, out of the Hickory area (We Sing Nasty Blues) was HUGE, playin' a swampy blues set of primarily original material...John Popper and Blues Traveler better not look back, cause these guys are comin' fast!

(You need to Login or Register to view media files and links)

Nathan atttacks the slide on his Dan Electro...

And the last act we saw was Near Gravity, an acoustic driven, jam rock sound...

The FAFTF was a big success!  The amount of exposure that the clubs received over the past several weeks from the promotion of the show is worth more that money can buy...I know I'm looking forward to the 2nd Annual, next June!

Thanks again to all that came, volunteered and supported the show!

We did manage to sell all of the shirts.  BTW, the Trialblazers cleared $100 in donations and fundraisers for the event!   Smiley
