The LKNM chapters range of influence will reach to Statesville for now. That means I don't know what to tell you about Tangle Wood, Riverbend and Rich Park. My guess is those trails are cared for by someone in the Greensboro, Winston Salem area. Check it out. Put your time, energy and $ into the trails you feel would benefit the most.
Meeting update:
Had a really good turnout! Thanks to Tom M. and Jim G. for showing up.
Looks like the LANO e-mail list will be converted into the Lake Norman list. Details to follow.
Wes and some others (the other guy
) have started flagging a corridor at the new trail in Statesville. This new trail will be connected by existing greenway to the Signal Hill trail. Details and time line to follow.
The subject of trails for pay/donations was brought up by Bob Karriker. Since we have mechanized equipment that requires fuel, maintenence and repair, the club is starting to incur more costs. IMBA and others project that a mile of single track costs approx. $15,000.00 to build. While we won't be asking P&R for that amount we do want them to help defray the costs of operating and maintaining the equipment. Details to follow.
Grand opening for the neighborhood/adaptive sports trail at Jetton is coming up in April. This will be a huge event with hopefully a lot of press. Details to follow.
Minutes for the meeting will be posted on the forums shortly. Thanks to all who came out and attended.
