That's soo funny......LOST is the same reason why I dind't go. Grin THat's why I asked how long the meetings usually last in an earlier post. I guess I need DVR but my cable bill is already out the roof Angry I wish I had went just to hear the WWC guy and to meet some more poeple. Oh well, next time but only if we watch LOST during the meeting intermission period Wink

I'm sorry but last night LOST>THTB Wink

Hey, whatever happened to the swarmy/smokey beastie, the dinosaur noises, the polar bears, and all the other crap they keep forgetting (or hoping we forget)?

I don't know. But I'm disappointed...  We just got HDTV & I wanna see 'em jump out at me in 3D  Grin.

Okay, new question.  Who are the Oceanic Six?

We know Hurley, Jack, Kate & Sayid.

I say John's in the box and Sawyer's the other one.

They said we would know next week.

I think Charles Nelson Reilly is in the casket.  That would explain why Jack was so sad.

Lipstick Jungle is actually pretty good. The acting is great. We watch it every week.

I don't watch a whole lotta TV anymore. Heck, I don't even own a TV. Or Cable. Or Internet come to think of it.

Does that come on during the meeting? If so it's a great reason to attend!

How much beer did Jim have to buy? I'm sure not everyone that could have did get a beer from him. MAybe it's because I heard he was going to pay double to those he missed this meeting to the ones that show up to the next meeting. Smiley

Good question. I bought 14 beverages - a couple (or so) were my own. Two hardly counted, a fountain drink and Dickie's PBR. (Is that considered beer? I guess its still a beverage.)

I'm sure I missed a few. I had one name (Michael?) written on my first timer's list from the self intros, and forgot who that was. Also, Pel reported 6 new members that night and to my knowledge I didn't get any of them. Anyone who was a first timer and joined up Thursday was supposed to get 2! Sorry to all I missed, it sure wasn't intentional and I'll give rain checks at next month's meeting - or later if you can't make it.

Thanks for everyone coming out. It was a great turnout. Thanks to Mike K. for facing the fire and especially for listening. I think we can all do some more of that.

I continue to want to encourage folks to make it to meetings. Its not an AA type of thing - a lot of folks "get it" and are involved witout having to attend. But anyone, including even the oldtimers (club active-wise) will get a real appreciation at the meeting for just how much trail work and other activity is ongoing within the club and the local mountain biking scene. Believe me, there's plenty more to do.

How can everyone best support mountain biking in the community? Ask non-members to join the club (or another club) and/or to come to a meeting. I believe coming to a meeting and seeing what's going on and meeting other members is a major step in getting folks involved in active participation in trail building/maintance and the other functions of the club.

Ask non-members to join the club!! Please, do it regularly. Ask them if they are a member at the trailhead. Everyone I've asked is interested in knowing more about it and it's just as easy as asking "How's the trail today?" Let 'em know we don't ask for a commitment more than their $20 or $25 and we're glad to have that. Almost all are interested in giving back some and doing some trailwork.

Know what a potential volunteer looks like? Someone who hasn't been asked yet! Most volunteers, even those who are itching to get involved WANT TO BE ASKED. Go ahead, and ask.

I'm askin'!

Thanks everyone for a great meeting and all you do to support the Trailblazers, other clubs and volunteer organizations, and our community.

Jim G.

Great suggestions!  I'm working on one buddy to come to a meeting, but I can guarantee if they go on till 9:30 every time he'll never come! (I know they don't normally)

One thing I thought of reading your post, is I think I'll print up some business-card sized, um, Cards with (You need to Login or Register to view media files and links) on it.
I talk infrequently with people at trailheads who've not heard of the group, and If they have something with the address on it, they can remember and look into it when they get home!

JP

Thanks for the Newcastle - I'd almost forgotten how much I love that brand.
Also, IMHO, PBR is not a real beer - so beverage it is! Smiley

Membership envelope - I've heard rumor of such a thing existing, but have not seen one personally.  Like leprechans, Nessie, and bigfoot. (although bigfoot may be out at Fisher Farm...)

PBR Smiley I remember when the choice was Bud or Blue. The working class drank Schlitz, and the upper class drank Miller. There was also Black Label and National. All American! Why can't America produce good beer anymore?  Cry

We used to be able to get a case (12) of quarts of Iron City when I was in college for $3.79 plus deposit. (Yea, that dates me.) The first quart was pretty awful. The second, passable. And the third, was pretty OK.

That wasn't a beverage.
