New Officer Slate for 2009

It's that time of the year again. The bylaws of the Tarheel Trailblazers require that we soon present a slate of nominees for the next year's officers, to then be voted on before the end of the year. As you know, we have President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer roles per the bylaws, but many other key roles and functions as well. Despite how it always seems to work out, there is no requirement  that says these positions are two year terms so if you have any interest let us know.

The Scty slot is open since Leah is stepping down after the current term. Although Frankie has indicated he will continue as Treas. if no one else speaks up and is comfortable with it, perhaps it's time for another club member to consider this one. Frank has already done an admirable and challenging two year stint as Pres, and I don't know how many years as Treasurer, and continues in his never-ending dedication to trail care coordinator and tireless work on the trails. The man needs a break!

Jim Grover (Pres) and I (Veep) are OK carrying over for another year but that doesn't mean anyone else who's interested or would like to get involved can't come forward.

Tom Mathews has asked that someone assume the meeting emcee/coordinator role. Like Frankie, Tom stepped up to the President's role for two solid years, has been the meeting dude since I've known him, and also been tireless in his trail efforts, advocacy efforts, and...well, there's not enough room here. Tom has been integral to this club since long before I ever came along eight + years ago. He would like a very well deserved break and would like to enjoy the meetings as a heckler instead of the hecklee.

Of course we have other things too that aren't formal officer slots. The work never stops on membership, grants, advocacy, web-site help, etc etc. Prez Jim's note in the prior post:

"If ANYBODY wants ANY job, just let me know and I'll find something to fit. No kidding! Rain or shine.

It doesn't have to be "full time" but can be for a single event or effort.

(PR, Trail Advocacy, Events, Social Rides, Fundraising, Community Awareness/safety, Coordinate and Promote Mountain Trike programs, Trips for Kids or other community liaison, ANYTHING you want to do to promote the club and our mission ....)

Jim
704-344-two nine 0 nine "

Please contact Jim or any of the board members if you have interest or would like ot know more about what their respective slots entail. Thanks all, for helping make this the best mtb/trail club on the planet!

We have our meeting tomorrow and are due to present the slate for '09. The floor is still open for anyone who would like to step up or get more involved in any way. Re-read the post below (or is it above?) and think about ways you can help the club and the mtb community.

Thanks everyone, see you tomorrow.
