I've always sort of passed on Oskar Blue's beer because I thought of it as a novelty being in cans cans and such. But I had a good sampling at Brewgrass and now I'm in love with Old Chub. Dale's is one of the better IPA's I have tried. And now I find out that they are majorly involved in cycling. Who knew................ Wink

On a recent road trip traveling through Utah, found a beer called Polygamy Porter.  Says on the bottle, "why only have one".  Got a chuckle out of that one.

I think I know now what it means to be one with the bike. I feel as good about my new bike as I did with my Klein Rascal back in 1991. Best bike I ever had Smiley

I just tried some of the Oaked Arrogant Bastard and it was pretty tasty.  Will definately pick up another pack of it.  I haven't tried NB's Hoptober, I usually go for Cottonwood Pumpkin Spice this time of year.  I might pick up a pack of Hoptober next time I'm in the teeter.

On a surprising note (please don;t flame me for saying this), I actually like Bud Lights new Light Golden Wheat beer.  Tastes better than any other light beer in my own opinion and has become my new choice for light beer.

the Arrogant Bastard is tasty though not easy on the wallet.  they make a smoked porter i beleive as well which i will try sometime.  try the Dogfish head punkin ale.  it has less spices than the Cottonwood and more alcohol.  very subtle pumpkin flavor.

Your right about not being easy on the wallet.  A six pack of the oaked version costs 14.95 at Total Wine.  Stones Pale Ale is one of my favorites too.

My favorite light beer is Guiness. Don't laugh. I think it is one of the lighter tasting brews out there. For a bargin, you can go to the Carolina Brewery in Mooresville and get 6 pacs of Cottonwood for 7 bucks. Growler fills are $6 and $8 for High gravity. They don't charge no tax either.

Your right about the Guinness being a good light beer. I think a bottle is only around 130 cal.

I have an inside connection at Carolina Brewery and usually pay next to nothing for the beer.   I got a 24 pack of Pumpkin Spice free this year.  That's the kind of friend you keep for life  Grin.    They use too offer brewery tours, but they stopped doing them this year.

I actually went to Denver a few weeks ago and man I had a lot of great beer.  I stopped in and got some of the Dales while I was there.  Its just a little hole in the wall brewery but man it tasted good.

They sponsor a MTB fest in May. A little ways away, but I'm thinking of it. Their swag shop has a few bike related items. Jersey's, socks. The Dale's socks are wool, just in time for winter. Dale's and Old Chub are my faves at the moment. My wife likes them too. So more beer in the fridge Smiley

Doug and I  stopped in the recently opened Olde Mecklenburg Brewery tonight. Its located on old Pineville Rd, north of Woodlawn Rd.  Cool place with great beer.

try the Fying Dog Imperial Porter.  a little richer than that particular Stout but you will like....if not already familiar with it.

tried some of this last weekend-seriously delicious but I can't imagine drinking more than one pint in a sitting. Tastes like Kraft caramel cubes but in a stout-beery kind of way.

(You need to Login or Register to view media files and links)

Black with reddish brown edges. Huge nose of butterscotch, HUGE caramel vanilla, cream and others. Medium-full body, creamy, flavors much like the aroma, lots of butterscotch , ultra sweet/thick caramel and vanilla. Very sweet with some backing hops.
