I watched the movie, "Beer Wars" last night and it was a documentary on THE BIG THREE vs the Craft breweries.   It spent a lot of time demonizing Anheuser Busch for their business tactics and focusing on a small brewery trying to make it.

Do I reccommend it?  Not unless you can watch it for free.  Just thought I'd share.

I watched it a few weeks ago when they started streaming it on Netflix.  A lot of the Anheuser stuff reminded me of a Michael Moore movie.

I did think the Dogfish Head lawsuits were pretty crappy- and I've been drinking their beer whenever possible as a result.  I think the difficulties for micro breweries are more a result of the three tier system and not necessarily Anheuser.

Being a beer enthusiast, I thought it was interesting.

the asheville brewers alliance (You need to Login or Register to view media files and links) is putting on a spring beer fest on May 29th. If nobody has been to a festival, it's pretty much $25-$70 for admission. Usually about $35. They give you a 5oz sampling glass, then you are free to sample sometimes as much as 200 beers in the time of the festival hours. I've been to Brewgrass a couple of time in Asheville. And they put on a great brew party. I've also wanted to ride Greenslick for some time, so if I get tickets for the event(going on sale 1st week of March) That will be the weekend I try, although I'll be walking a lot of the climbs Tongue

very hoppy, with a light citrus feel. Smooth and very tasty, especially for a 10% abv. It's also very expensive, but is only available for a short time(usually sells out). You owe it to yourself to try a least one. On another note, Bell's Oberon is coming out March 30. Only wheat beer I'll go out of my way to drink Smiley

Vasco just called to let me know he picked up the last pack of Hopslam at Southern Spirits. Bastard!

Well he also called because OMB is tapping a seasonal brew Wednesday at 4:30pm.

Quote:
Frübock Kickoff
WhenWed, March 10, 4pm – 9pm
DescriptionJoin us at the brewery on Wednesday, March 10th from 4-9pm for the release of our spring seasonal, OMB "Frühbock" (pro. ‘froo-bock’).
