Holy Crap I just died and went to heaven.  I walked into the Total Wine in Huntersville and what do I see?  Red Oak is now being sold in bottles by the 12 pack!!  I talked to the manager and he said that only 4 total wine stores currently carry it in bottle form and they are the only ones that have it in the area.  One of my favorite beers is finally available for home consumption.. Bliss

nice, thanks for the heads up. I've wondered for years why they didn't bottle it. I remember when the OG Red Oak brewery was in the old Franklin's restaurant by Guilford College.

also of note, and I'm sure I'll get told to CLEAR THE TRAIL for this one, but High Life and Busch Light cases are 9.99 at Harris Teeter this week.

There's a new restaurant that just opened in SouthPark, close to Piedment Row or Barclay Downs? I met the owner. Last name is Griffin, I think. The restaurant serves BBQ, and if memory serves me right, there's over 100 brands of beer on tap. That's a lotta beer kegs.

Someone once told me that the cheap beer is brewed with rice instead of Barley. So does that make it Sakie...........

I wouldn't say brewing with rice makes it cheap. Making it cheap, makes it cheap. It would actually be a combination of rice and barley, I don't know of any beer that uses rice exclusively. Some beers, Yuenling comes to mind, use corn as well. The American pilsner is brewed with rice. If it's done right, it's a good beer. The major breweries out there are bottling as much beer as they can as fast as they can. While that is great for the investors, it's not always the best way to make beer.  Smiley

Total Wine gots Hebrew JEWBELATION BAR MITZVAH with 13 hops and 13 malts. Very dark beer, not my type. Thought I'll post it since there were only a few bottles left.

Johnny's Red Bowl has Red Oak on tap.  Had sushi and a Red Oak Saturday night.  Brought back nice memories from college.

I think it was the Beer garden but don,t remember exactly, I was way to busy taking in the scenery.  Sorry I missed Y'all at Duckworth's the other night, I was knee deep in yard chores. Cheesy

I think you are correct, the Beer Garden had them and fresh too.

No sweat over the beer outing, many more coming up through June and July. I was lookign forward to the Pisgah Brewery drafts but they ran out. Mike said they had a few more kegs and will update the facebook page when they tap em.

Just an FYI, but if you're talking about the Red Oak brewery on 85 in Burlington, it's pretty much an automated facility- there are only a couple of people that even work there.  Aka, no public sales, t-shirts or whatever.

When I sold fluid sealing products I stopped a couple of times and talked to the guys about fda gaskets, etc.  Someone can correct me, but I think the main brewery is in Greensboro.

Yeah it isn't cheap, but worth it in my opinion.  A 4 pack of Osker Blues Gordon Ale is 9 dollars and it's worth the price too.
