I have been patronizing a new brewery out of Bryson City throughout the summer.
They are currently targeting from Asheville to the west.(Thirsty Monk now has on tap) NOC has them on tap as well as Across the Tracks in Bryson City. Owners are great folks and a tasting/ viewing room is under construction.
Check them out the next time you head to Tsali.

It was the Hoptober that helped get this thread launched I do believe  Cheesy Anyways I've always hated wheat beers but after mildly enjoying Starr Hill's "The Love" in Va at a DMB show and once again a few weeks back, I am giving NB's Mothership Wit a try tonight. I must say, it's a great tasting beer for a light Monday night buzz...

there was some talk about Southern Tier Creme Brulee a few pages ago. It's back. From the Grapevine Wine Shop's facebook page:

Well, it's starting... The Oktoberfest and Pumpkin beers are rolling in. Stevens Point Marzen on the shelf. Southern Tier Creme Brulee and Mokah on the shelf, Shipyard Pumpkin Head, Smutty Pumpkin, New Holland Ichabod and Weyerbacher Imperial Pumpkin on the shelf. Southern Tier PumpKing on the way. And Bear Republic Racer X should be here today.

looks like I'm making the drive down to the border this weekend

Let's not forget about our friends... Cool

-------------------------------------------

But more on topic, I was able to finally pick up some product from (You need to Login or Register to view media files and links) in Durham (no I'm not on their payroll, but they are good friends) this past Tuesday and bring it back to Charlotte for official reviews.  The Rocket Science IPA is fantastic, just the right amount of american hops to make me feel at home.  Also, the Basil Farmhouse ale is surprisingly good.  I'd say I was not sure about basil in beer, but it works.  It works well.  If your ever near durham, It's more than worth the stop to meet the guys, and pick up another growler for me.  Wink

Their distribution is regional, so we'll likely not see it in Charlotte for a good long while.

My next beer search is for the Southern Tier Pumking.

The Lucy & The Love were this Summers favorites. Great beer from that brewery.

I forget how tasty Racer X is. If you are a hop head, go get a growler of it before it runs out. Mmmmmmm...so delightful.

I picked up a pack of the Hoptober from New Belgium, and it's probably my favorite beer they make right after the Ranger IPA. I don't like fat tire all that much, either.

Critical, I'm the opposite of you, I'm not a big fan of IPA's and the hoppier stuff, I like the darker beers.  Fat Tire is one of my favorites.

Don't know if this beer has been mentioned yet, but Gouden Carolus: Cuvee Van De Keizer is an excellant Belgian Ale.  Its only brewed on the 24th of February each year, is %100 natural, no preservatives or chemicals, and is delicious.  Had a bottle of the 2008 last night, 10% alcohol by volume, put me to sleep real nice =).

Seriously?  Maybe I should seek royalties.  Wink

And I thought I was of German descent, not Belgian.

tried last night and highly recommend Sweetwater Motorboat. The label says Ale, but it also says it's their stab at an ESB.

nerd tlk: Beautiful dark copper color, almost completely opaque. Smooth and malty but with a nice amount of hops too. reminded me at first sip of something like Dale's Pale, although if I sipped them back to back I'm sure I'd see that that's totally inaccurate. The hop flavor is similar, but everything else about the taste is different, if that makes sense. Anyway its only in stores untio mid October so give it a try while you can. A perfect fall brew, I intend to get even fatter by drinking sh1tloads of it
