I've been loving those Widmer Brothers "Brother's Best" packs lately.

I tried the Dogfish Head Pumkin and the Southern Tier Pumking. My pallet thinks the Pumking is much yummier but to be quiet honest the nose is even more yummier with the vanilla scent.

Going for my 2nd growler fill tomorrow.

Speaking of growlers, besides The Grapevine in Baxter Village, are there any other places in and around Charlotte that do growler fills? (Besides OMB).

On Pumpkin beers:
Do you know what pumpkin tastes like?  Don't think I do.  I know what pumpkin pie tastes like.  I think that a majority of pumpkin beers are merely spiced beers, with some superficial pumpkin thrown in the mash as a namesake.

But who doesn't love a malty pumpkin pie.

Can anyone that drinks pumpkin beer taste pumpkin?

Carolina Brewery in Moorsville does Crowler fills.
Terripen Pumpkin is one of my favorites. Light spice flavor Smiley

I guess I will need to stop by the Grapevine after the 6 hour race tomorrow.  Smiley

Every Anne Springs trip warrants a stop at the Grapevine  Wink. Helmet? Check. Bike? Check. Empty growler? Check.

Agree with Criticalmass that most pumpkin beers just taste like pumpkin pie/allspice. The Dogfish is pretty good, but I actually think I prefer a flavored beer to have a little less alcohol. (weird I know). Most of them are way over spiced for me to enjoy more than one at a time. I enjoy the Carolina brewery's pumpkin the best, but haven't been able to catch it at HT, if it is even out yet.

I can taste the pumpkin in certain beers, but only because I have had a failed attempt at brewing my own pumpkin beer.

I went by the Grapevine after the 6 hour and picked up a growler of the Pumking. I must say that the Southern Tier Pumking is the best Pumpkin beer that I have tasted.  I'm going to miss this beer when its gone.  Very good!! Thanks for the heads up.

I tried Bell's 25th Anniversary Ale this weekend and it is a great well rounded beer. I am typically a slap-you-in-the-face hop head, so I am surprised I enjoyed the malty presence of this one so much. I think it's the cooler weather getting to me.

I also purchased a Bell's Expedition Stout. I am looking forward to enjoying that one on the back porch on a crisp fall evening, maybe only slightly chilled, maybe room temperature. Mmm. I like beer.

The Southern Tier is yummy, so much so I had to get a second refill. I do hope they still have it for a little longer too. Got a couple of them in bottles too for the beer fridge.

Tried the Allagash Black on tap there, very tasty.

Growlers are nice and all, but you might as well get a keg if you like it.  Economy of scale and all that.  Then I'll be over.

$10 for $20 Worth of Pub Fare at Angry Ale’s. Not valid on alcohol but still a righteous deal, I guess. Unless this place sucks. I don't know, I've never been there.

I saw that groupon this morning and was wondering what beer selection one would expect at this place. We see it all the time when visiting Duckworths but never make it over there.

Doesn't hold a candle to Duckworths' selection.  Mostly domestics, with the import staples.

The scenery isn't bad though.

Has anyone seen any Pisgah Brewery products in either the stores or on tap. I'm hankering one of their porters. I got the Jones so bad, I'm almost ready to drive to Black Mountain. How hard can Kitsuma be anyways. I'll just tell myself I'm going for a hike/bike Wink
