tried some of this last weekend-seriously delicious but I can't imagine drinking more than one pint in a sitting. Tastes like Kraft caramel cubes but in a stout-beery kind of way.

Black with reddish brown edges. Huge nose of butterscotch, HUGE caramel vanilla, cream and others. Medium-full body, creamy, flavors much like the aroma, lots of butterscotch , ultra sweet/thick caramel and vanilla. Very sweet with some backing hops.

I just got a PM asking me if I knew where to obtain this brew... any help in locating it?  is it available locally?

Have you tried contacting (You need to Login or Register to view media files and links) ? If Mike doesn't have, he can probably get it. If he can't get it, nobody else (locally) can.

they had it on draft and growlers were available. Didn't check to see if they had bottles.

Regarding the Creme Brulee:
Well, after a bit of research, this may be a hard beer to get soon (if not already).  It is a seasonal by Southern Tier brewing released in June (which is a wierd time to release a milk stout in my opinion).

Also, there is not NC distributor according to their website so Brawley's can't get it.

Regarding Olde Meck brewery:
I'd like to get out and check them out.  I have heard good things and I know they do events from time to time to introduce their new offerings.  I also think it is important to support companies like this who are going out on a (really expensive) limb to bring craft beer to our area.

I do miss my days in the triangle area of getting in a good ride and following it with a brewery tour at Carolina Brewing Company.

Anyone tried Dogfishhead Black and Blue? I've been staring at it in the fridge for almost two months, but kinda scared of it for some reason....don't usually like fruit in my beer/ale, but I was weak one evening at Total Wine after a couple Arrogant Bastards on tap at Brixx.

Total Wine stores have a tasting of some sort every friday and saturday.  Usually just wine but they have beers sometimes.
I actually saw this guy at  a tasting in the Huntersville TW one time. I couldn't figure out why he looked familiar though.

And in the "..and your life goes on unchanged" category:

I tried a 22 of this last night. my new favorite. tastes like pine trees covered in chocolate.

and a 22 of this. Blood red in color and 6.66% alcohol. Spooky! but overall, I didn't really like it.

While this topic is revived, I want to recommend Highland's Cold Mountain Ale.  It is pretty tasty (even if it is a bit spendy) this year.

On Beer Tastings:
Beer tastings are a fairly new concept in NC.  Until October 1st it was legal to hold wine tastings at local supermarkets, total wine's, etc but illegal to do the same for beer.  On October 1st, NC now treats beer and wine equally so now we can have free beer tastings.

that stuff had a slight cinnamon taste to it. I didn't like it either. Been going to beer tastings at the Wine Maestro here in Statesville for about a year now. TW in Winston had an event style tasting last Saturday. I've been to others on a smaller scale, but walked out of this one with a good buzz. This looks good (You need to Login or Register to view media files and links)

Thanks for the heads up on the Creme Brule. I had Southern Spirits order it for me. They got the last case in SC 2 weeks ago. Interesting beer.

I have a Dragon's Milk bottle staring me down right now.

I'm searching for Chouffe Houblon Doddelen IPA Tripel next.

(You need to Login or Register to view media files and links) seems like a must post Springs ride. Hmmm!
