Holy crap!! I can not wait for this to get here.  They figured out a way to infuse nitrogen into the bottle without using a widget like Guiness.  Suppose to be just like having in on tap.  Only available in Colorado right now.

The newest brewery to open in the CLT is NODA Brewing Company.

See what they have, yummy!

Chocolate and Brown malts contribute a stunningly deep rich color with ruby highlights in this Robust Porter. The slight bitterness from American chocolate is balanced with the sweet roastiness of toasted organic coconut. A great beer before, during, or after a meal!

I saw that on their website.  One of my coworkers is in the loop and said that it was awesome.  NODA brewing should be open to the public in early November.

FYI OMB starting to sell 22oz bottles. Some Hairy Teeters have it on the South side, hoping it comes north soon.

I *think* I saw some at Earth Fare.  Could be mistaken.  I get all starry-eyed looking at the big beers in the cooler at Earth Fare.

Good intel Jennifer. I get my growlers refilled at Earth Fare since it's so close to home, so I'll check it out. They also now sell Red Oak in bottles, which is another fine fresh German style brew.

FYI on an email I received.

Edward, good morning.

I would like to personally introduce a NEW event coming to Charlotte, NC on February 4, 2012:  the Queen City Brewers Festival.  We would be thrilled if you could share this event with your Club members, as the nonprofit we are benefitting aligns well with the Tarheel Trailblazers’ overall mission to protect, improve and maintain the natural environment in the Charlotte community.

Queen City Brewers Festival (QCBF) IS Charlotte on Tap.  Premiering at the Neighborhood Theatre (511 E. 36th Street, Charlotte, NC, 28205), on Saturday, February 4, 2012, QCBF is exclusive to the Charlotte-area breweries that are putting the Queen City on the craft beer map.  The event will feature a diverse selection of beer styles and flavors to taste and learn about from official brewery representatives. With Charlotte’s craft beer market exploding in recent years, the goal of this event is to spotlight the city’s emerging craft breweries and to bring awareness to the event’s nonprofit host, Partners for Parks, a  nonprofit, nonpartisan foundation that seeks to promote and enhance parks, recreation and open space in neighborhoods throughout Mecklenburg County and the surrounding area.

More than thirty craft beers will be on hand with each brewery showcasing its full lineup of beers.  Brewers are encouraged to bring one “super” flavor or style of beer especially for QCBF, as the event takes place the day before the Super Bowl.

QCBF will partner with Charlotte-based food vendors, and guests will also enjoy live music.

Guests must have a valid photo ID and be 21 years of age or older to enter the festival.

Updates will be posted regularly on:

On behalf of Partners for Parks, thank you for your support!

Sincerely,

Nils

I need some beer afficianato help.  During a recent business dinner myself and an associate got into a debate about NC Breweries.  His statement was that there were only ~4 NC breweries that bottled beer.  I said that was ridiculous and there had to be like 20.  Well last night at my local grocery store I identified 8, but I need to get the number closer to 20, than 4.

Here was my list:
Quote:

1) Cottonwood - Mooresville, NC
2) Duck Rabbit - Farmville, NC
3) Boone Brewing - Boone, NC
4) Lonerider - Raleigh, NC
5) Highland - Asheville, NC
6) Natty Green - Greensboro, NC
7) Big Boss - Raleigh, NC
8) Mother Earth - Kinston, NC

1) Cottonwood - Mooresville, NC  Cottonwood is no longer produced in Mooreseville.  Carolina beer sold their beer operation to Foothills Brewing.  They only do contract bottling there now.

Don't forget Olde Hickory in Hickory.  BTW if you have not had there imperial stout your really missing out.

Went to NoDa Brewing Company last night and was very impressed. Great Imperial IPA and super good Coconut Porter. The sampe of their IPA/Saison mix was also tasty. On a staycation the rest of the week before I head to the SORBA board of directors meeting this weekend in GA to represent, and may have to go back tonight and get a growler.

I saw it in HT and Lowes in University area recently.

Anyone gone to the two new brewers in NoDA?

NoDA Brewing and Birdsong?

I've been there a few times already (Growlers! Woo HOO) Kind of reminds me of being in Portland with all the local brewpubs. It's nice to see the Queen City getting more beer.

NODA brewery is awesome. I try to make it there on Tuesday for the brew master's small batch.  they just started hiring food trucks to sit in the lot too.
