Boulevard Grainstorm Black Rye IPA has been around and is awesome.

Had it at DBC and Duckworth's.  Definitely worth a try.

Been enjoying some G'Knight from Osker but ouch that 4-pack price really hurts. Also tried 90 Schilling Ale and Upslope lager while in Denver this weekend.

What about taking a cheap lite beer and infusing it with some decent hops, maybe lemon zest, etc .  Ghetto home brew? Hmmmmmm.

I've seen it at Whole Foods too, so it might be creeping into the Charlotte market.

There's a Charlotte Observer Deal of the Day for "The Beer Growler" on South Blvd for 50% off/ $10 for a $20 GC for beer & growler.

(You need to Login or Register to view media files and links)

I bought mine.  Haven't been to this place before but they look to have a really good selection.

I want to give a follow up to my previous post…

I stopped in at The Beer Growler on my way home from work last night. The people there are great, very helpful.  As you stare at the list of 45 beers, they are happy to hook you up with four free samples if you need a taste to decide.  You can buy additional samples beyond those four.
You can bring any growler in to be filled, they will sterilize it on the spot, refill it and send you on your way… after you pay of course.

As for prices, I don't have a lot of experience yet with growlers so I couldn't tell you how the prices compare.  You're first growler bottle is about $5, which is good for either 32oz or 64oz.  If you bring in one size but want the other they will just swap those out.

You can find their current tap list on their website.

I took home some Red Brick Three Bagger Triple 9.5% and for my wife some Catawba River Coconut Porter.

If you are any where near SouthEnd I'd recommend giving them a visit, especially with the deal from the post above.

Good grief.  Fall is the best time for beer drinking and this thread has fallen below discussions of Trail Dogs, Sneaky New Police cars and reasons why Fisher Farm sucks.  Thankfully the impending leaf blowing battle will be handled under a different header.

Now, back on topic.

Terrapin Chocolate Peanut Butter Porter.  No opinion yet however I've taken a chance, simply based on the fact that Terrapin doesn't make crap and the idea of drinking a Reese's Peanut Butter cup with a hit of hops is intriguing.

I thought this was a biking website, what's with the long beer blog? It's even longer than the leaf blowing page!

Biking and beer go together like peanut butter and chocolate. Well, not really, as it's not good to do them at the same time, but you get my point. The Terrapin Liquid Bliss is really good, and I'm not a fan of sweeter beers. It's chocolate and peanut butter, but still slightly hoppy and dry instead of sweet.

people probably know this already. But if your looking for a good selection of craft beers after a ride at Kerr Scott. Lowe's food on 421 should be your destination
