I thought this was a biking website, what's with the long beer blog? It's even longer than the leaf blowing page!

Now we need a Mexican food blog for the trifecta!

Hopslam is here!... but probably gone by tomorrow. Total Wine has it about 10-12% cheaper this year. Also got me a fancy Hopslam sniffer to drink my over priced Imperial IPA.

I picked up a pack of Hop Slam today at 201 in Wesley Chapel. It's the first time I've scored in 2 years.

So did I, at 5 minutes after the store opened.  Word was obviously out as others were doing the same.

as of yesterday ,Wine Maestro in downtown Statesville. Had two cases selling them at a 6 per customer. My boss picked up two sixers at Crafty Beer Guys in Huntersville. If you can't get it at Total Wine. Expect to pay a premium. I'm pretty sure, this will be the last time for paying so much for a 6 pack. But then ,I said the same thing last year Roll Eyes

Carolina Ale House in downtown / uptown Charlotte is supposed to have it on tap for "5 minutes" one day next week.

Good luck nailing the timing on that one.

Don't buy into the hype..

I guess you could say that about most things "these days"....I had a great time trading phone calls and texts with my brother trying to score some Hopslam (we still didn't score any) but we shared a bunch of laughs.... Of course we are about to bottle up a 90 minute copy so it could be worse😉

Sometimes the fun is in the chase.....

Well said on it's sometimes about the chase. I ended up talking to and texting with friends I haven't been in contact with for a year or more this week. I did score a 6, and it's still that good.

I balked at the price last year, although probably irrational of me to be okay with 19.99 vs. 23.99 last year. Instead we brewed up a clone called Hopdunk out of Texas that was a darn good 10% IPA, extract vs all grain, and I don't have proper refrigeration for fermentation.

Now I have to restrain myself from drinking the other 5 before I'm supposed to split the 6 with my beer brewing buddy Cool I had to have one the night I scored.

If you like hopslam give Hop Cakes a try.

Also I had the 10th anniversary BBA aged anarchy by Duck Head the other night and it was one of the best BBA beers I have ever tasted.  They blended over 37 of their BBA seasonal brews to make this beer.  It was delicious.

Agree with the comments about "the chase".

Tried Avery "The Czar" for the first time recently, thought it was very good.

Picked up a 4pk of NoDa HopCakes on the way home tonight. As a home brewer I know enough about beer to be dangerous, and Hop Cakes is pretty darn good. Belles Hopslam tempers the 10% abv with honey, and NoDa's Hop Cakes tempers the 10.2% abv with maple syrup. As much as I'd like to diss the Hopslam for all the hype, it is the best Imperial IPA for my taste buds, but the NoDa Hop Cakes is one fine Imperial Ale that if you consider price point a factor is very high up there. Need to pimp the Hop Cakes on RateBeer.com.

Nothing like an IPA after trail work, even if it's just a mile at the local elementary school Cool, and THE Cyclepath finally put me a couch in the shop so I can drink shop beer in comfort. Darn good brownie the wife made bro Lips Sealed

Don't buy into the hype..

I remember when I lived in Michigan. When HopSlam first came out, it was fairly easy to get and not as expensive. But the word of mouth got around, and the hype took off. It's fun every year to do the things to try to get it. You converse a lot with your beer fiends(friends). And it is good for shops that sell craft beer. It brings in more customers who then realize all the cool stuff that is out, and may start a new trend Wink

Hopslam is good, but the hype and expense is somewhat excessive. Hopcakes was $$$$ in the cans this year. Honey Pie is the true champ, and I'd take that over Hopslam any day. BTW, Asheville Brewing just released Evil Ninja. Their normal Ninja porter aged on oak chips and Carolina Reaper peppers....spicy and delicious for these frigid winter nights!
