Home Brewers.... New Belgium bottle labels come off after like 30 seconds in warm soapy water..... They leave a bit of sticky residue but not enough to worry about....I just had a nice double IPA with some Swedish braid bread toasted and buttered with a fairly liberal dose of Cinnamon sugar....

Visited Sierra Nevada and Oskar Blues and the 'blue dream' IPA was the best beer of the day.

Dear Mtn Bike Bros,

Hopslam is in stock at Total Wine in Huntersville.  I also picked up a six pack of Troegs Nugget Nectar.  Pricey but worth it if you want to enjoy basically once a year when it is available in our neck of the woods.

NoDa Hopcakes has been out for at least a few days now. Got some at Earth Fare on Monday (they were running low), and had on tap at Queen City Q in Concord.

I'm sure other places should have some. Kinda pricey at $15/4pak

Finally found a light beer I like. BEERrito ,a Mexican lager from Oskar Blues. A sort of malt forward, but not too forward. Think of Old Chub in a session version. It's supposed to be semi-sweet, comparable to, say, corona . But corona uses corn syrup to get their sweet flavor. Very satisfying and refreshing. I had to give up beer drinking in order to drop some pounds. But if I sneak one of these every so often, I won't feel as guilty. 4% ABV , less then a slew of session Pale's and IPA's  Smiley

Beerito is good! In the summer, keep an eye out for NoDa's Bandito, its also a Mexican Lager and really good. It kept disappearing off the shelves at my local grocery....

The best beer I have ever had was Sierra Nevada Trip in the Woods Islay Fog. Came out once in 2016 and they do not plan on making it again.
Olde Hickory has a few good Imperial Stouts. Irish Walker is great.

Enjoying a post wwc Southern Tier Nu Skool IPA. Not a fan of "tropical" but this one isn't fruit  infused and is Southern Tier in a can. Pretty damn good if you aren't looking to get 2x wasted. $8.99 sixer at Teeter.

When they were one of the few in the ville, they were really popular. But others opening in Ashville started overshadowing. I must admit that a lot of there year round beers never really went anywhere. I still hear folks talk about Galic though. Owners daughter has taken over marketing. But it's still the same old swill in a different suit. They offer a few session beers, but their brews never seemed to have a lot of ABVs anyway. So many good breweries in Charlotte now, that you don't even have to travel to the ville for beer. Of course if you ride Pisgah or DuPont, you always have Brevard Brewing and Oskar Blues

new logs is hideous... as is all their gayassed color schemes on their bottles and cans.

Oh well as Douglass said above.. their beer was nothing to write home about... and I certainly won't take a trip to asheville just for their beer alone.

on a side note: I was a little put off when I first found out that their owner was japanese.  Given their original logo I presumed the ownership was of scottish heritage.  Perhaps this was the reason for the logo change.
