Jim - any update on this?  Also, do you have any idea where the additional mileage will be added?  I'm curious if it will be in the area of the proposed "Sky Rock" trail shown on the map below.  There appears to be a trail off to the right climbing Keyauwee (CC) that is blocked off with cut trees right about where Sky Rock entrance is shown.  Maybe Sky Rock was started when White Tail was built and never finished?  I've been out there a few times in the past couple weeks and the potential for significant mileage with more decent climbing is crazy - particularly, further out Woodrun Rd which is pretty hilly terrain.

ETA - evidently SkyRock was open and closed for some reason in 2004..wonder if it will reopen at some point?

Skyrock was not really sustainable for a MTB trail from what I remember.  Seems like 2002 or 2003 when it was being ridden and it was a lot of switchback climbs and a fall line like descent.  I have no knowledge of the recent work out there but I'd doubt they would allow the old skyrock route to reopen without a major reroute.  Word on the street was that they closed it becasue it went off property or too close to a protected historical area or something like that.

White Tail was shaped into singletrack from an old double track just a few years ago.

I talked with SORBA this week. We hope to have the general contractor, Trail Solutions, on site within "just a few weeks" to re-review the proposed work.

The initial plan was for a new single track line of approximately 3-4 miles to replace a double track road on the West side of Keyowee. There were also some other small re-routes in several areas and some extensive recovery/rehab of existing trail. There is a map that shows these areas, which I thought we had posted here, but I will try to get it posted.

Unfortunately, subsequent to Trail Solutions initial work to layout the work to be performed, extensive archeological survey work was done that apparently will impact the re-routes and then the logging took place in 2 areas. Thus, the proposed routes will need, at least to some degree, to be revised before work can start. So two steps forward, ....

Hopefully the re-design won't take too much time (or money), but we'll have to wait and see. I hope/expect that we will work closely with Trail Solut.ions to devise what needs to be done. I'll post up when I hear more.
