This is the easiest "Help Wanted" post you'll ever see from me. I need help getting as many Tarheel Trailblazers as possible to join me for the Bike Charlotte Event, Mayor's ride/Bike to Breakfast on Friday morning 4/29. Details in the link below.
Most people don't realize this could be the most important ride you can ever take, simply for the fact that the Mayor and other gov't officials see us. It creates a presence that we're part of this community.
Please do everything you can to take a little time off work and join me. Wear a Tarheel Trailblazer club jersey if you have one, and ride your mountain bike vs. your road bike. We'll take you on any bike, but it's a better statement if we're all on mountain bikes.
If you're a member and don't have a club jersey or t-shirt, try and ask a friend who's in the club to let you borrow a jersery just for the ride. I have three extra jerseys I'd be willing to let fellow members wear for the ride only just to sport our colors.
If you're interested in helping out with the I-277 Colonade Project, consider this your first trail work day. We'll need big corporate sponsorship money to make this happen, so come out and be seen downtown where a lot of money and power reside.
If you love a certain trail that mostly stays under the radar, but might like to see it big and bold on the radar, come out in club colors and be seen.
If you'd like to see free ride in our area, come out in club colors and be seen. The more gov't officials and corporate executives see the club supporting community events, the more we wipe out that old stigma from that stupid mtn dew commercial from years past that made us look like a bunch of yahoos.
Your club leaders are trying to make more of an effort to get out and get connected politically, and this is an easy task that anyone can do. Think about the publicity we might get if a group of 200 riders all in similar club jerseys are photographed and get shown on the nightly news. Publicity and awareness of what we do is a cumulative effect, and this is something easy and fun. Good free breakfast too.
