Help Wanted - Volunteers at the Riverfront Classic

The Catawba Riverfront Classic is an annual mountain bike race held as a fundraising event for the Tarheel Trailblazers. The race is held at the US National Whitewater Center, and it's a good time whether you're racing, volunteering, or just there for the day to enjoy watching the race, or checking out some of the other amenities. 

The club will be there with our tent/table, and information about the club, and we're also supposed to have a tent/table set up with a representative from SORBA/IMBA. 

We can always use more volunteers for course marshalls, setup and tear down, etc...and I would encourage all of you to help us promote the club by asking your riding friends to come try a race to help raise money for the trails. There's no time like the preset to try a beginner category, or step back in one of the other categories if it's been awhile.

BLAZERS….HELP NEEDED MAY 22 with the Catawba Riverfront Classic Mountain Bike Race

The Catawba Riverfront Classic is a fundraising event for the Tarheel Trailblazers. We need the club to step up and help support this great event.  Below is the needed volunteers for the race.  Please let me know ASAP when you can help out.   If you can be there the whole day…..GREAT….just let me know.  


Saturday, May 21 @ 11AM
Course set up and trail prep.  Meet at the start/finish area by the lower pond.  

Sunday, May 22 – 10 people
6:00 AM to 9:00 AM Race set up 

Registration – 5 people for both shifts
7:30AM to 9:30AM Registration Shift #1
9:30AM to 11:30AM Registration Shift #2

Course Marshals (locations and bike) - need 40 people 
8:00 AM to 10:30AM – Shift #1
10:30AM to 2:00PM – Shift #2

Finish Line and Scoring – 4 people
9:00AM to 2:00PM 

Breakdown – 10 people 
2PM until


Folks…we can not put on this event without the support of the club.  This is a great way to get involved and help the club raise a little money.

TRAILBLAZERS, we need A LOT more support from the club for the Riverfront Classic THIS weekend.  We are no where near the needed volunteers to make this a successful event.  I’ve received emails from several of the same people who help year in and year out but we need LOTS more.   

Folks, its time for new people in the club to step up and help out.   Don’t be that person…..the person always making excuses why they can’t come out and be a part of cub support events.  Working the race is actually fun and a great way to meet club members.

ugh you make me feel so guilty!  i don't think i can skip my girlfriend's best friend's wedding or i'll be in the doghouse for a while!  here's hoping you get the support you need!   come on guys, support the THTB and the Riverfront Mountain Classic Bike Race!
