Fox's New design..Am I crazy?

So Fox has tuned their 2014 forks to a stiffer compression setting...This makes sense...It will allow more range throughout all settings on the fork...They are also are changing the Talas to a hydraulic control that will allow the fork to move in 5mm increments (awesome!)...Here's my question....Why not design the fork to react on it's own in response to the terrain/head tube angle?  It seems to me that a fork that would automatically adjust it's travel based on it 'sensing" climbs or downhills would be super sweet! I'm sure purists will say to deal with it...But we are way past that point so why not go all the way?

I don't know all the tech in this but the early models of the TALAS were adjustable in 3mm increments.

Taht's cool but my main point is this:

Most people I know that have had newer Terralogic forks say great things about them..Why not do the same thing with the Travel on a Talas...How many of you riding a Talas regularly use the adjustable travel feature?  How many have forgot to let the travel back out after reaching the top of a climb?  I just think if the fork made that decision for you it would be super sweet.....Mountain biking is not really conducive to a bunch of knob turning and remotes (while making it easier) just add more "clutter" to the bars....

Ride SS; it reduces the bar clutter.  Cool

That reminds me of the Noleen Smart Fork that came stock on a '99 K2 Razorback I had back in The Day.  It was supposed to "sense" the changing terrain & make adjustments accordingly.  It wroked great when it worked, otherwise it was junk.  I got tired of sending it back & put on a cheap Manitou...no more problems!

I had one of the original 125mm Fox Talas' when they came out in the early 2000's and ironically it had the incremental click to reduce feature that you are discussing that at 3mm(I believe) increments you could reduce the travel from 125-100.

Same, I have a 150/130/110 and it stays on 150 all the time.

I have the 160/120 and the only time I have put it on 120 was a few times when my car was in the shop, I had a rental and I needed to take my wheel off and put the bike inside the car.  I found the travel adjust and the dropper seat post very effective in that scenario.   Cool

I never really saw the value of a travel adjust fork unless the rear travel was adjustable as well. Tongue  Plus the added weight and complexity of it.  Like having 4x4 drive just for one ice storm each 1-5 years.

I think it depends on what trails you ride. I know a guy who has a Talas and switches it from 150 to 110 on grueling climbs in the mountains all the time.  For trails around here... meh.

Probably does. Never seen so many clean 4X4 vehicles anywhere else. you'd think we were in Canada or something.

I've got the 3 pos. Talas & use the 6" & 5" all the time depending on where I am on any given trail(local or mountains).
The 4" setting throws the geometry off so much if feels like I'm dragging an anchor = not used.

Some people need 4wd to get the power down, not to deal with snow.

My last car was a handful with traction control off, I wish I would have gotten the 4matic version, to take advantage of the power (rather then constantly exercising the traction control).
