Suspension bridge issue at Anne Springs
06/20/13 at 7:30pm
Print Post
I was riding Anne Springs yesterday and when I crossed the suspension bridge on Prairie Loop appears to have an issue.  It is very "bouncy" now, much more so than before.  It also seemed like some of the boards were sagging.  I have already sent an email to Leroy Spring/Anne Springs contact page, but I wasn't sure if we were responsible for that, or if they are.  If we are, I can go help fix it if it needs to be.

Thanks,

Justin

I did get a response from Buddy over at ASCG and he said that they were actually out working on that bridge yesterday.  I asked what time to see if I was on it before or after the work.  Something isn't right for sure.  Also I have a bike with a little wider bars now, and I hit the cables every time, but not much I can do about that without a hack saw.

This has happened before; I think it was one of the underneath support cables was lose.  When it gets like this, make sure to cross it one at a time when you are riding with others.  The last time this happened about 5 or so years ago, I saw folks bounced off their bikes on it when there was more than one bike on it.

I freaking walked mine across was how crazy it was.  I usually fly over that thing.  Gravity Cavity or whatever it's called will be my new and only line until that thing is fixed.

Right passed the bridge we are discussing, there is a very large ravine that is marked "no trespassing" for insurance reasons, that is a very fun down-in-out ride that you have to do.  You can attack it at many angles and have lots of fun.

The bridge has been that way for over a month now.  Did the race on Saturday and I didn't have enough talent to make it across each lap without one foot down.  Really really bouncy.

Last year it happened and I was told that it is repaired by COMPORIUM Cable. Last year the left side cable broke and was replaced. My guess is the right cable is broken now and also needs replaced.

Buddy from Anne Springs Closed Greenway contacted me back stating that "Josh Patterson, our natural resources manager, should be in touch with you later today about the bridge."  I am actually at work right now, and you all seem to have a lot more information than I do.  Can I pass along someone's number for Josh to contact tonight?

Thanks,

Justin

Bridge is fixed.  Was out there this evening and it has been stablized.    Enjoy!
