The new 2014 Niner Jet 9 with air formed Al tubing and 100 mm rear suspension travel looks impressive.

Got to look over a Niner RDO Jet. Seemed like a nice bike. I rode a friends Regular Jet and was pretty impressed.

A RDO is high on my list right now. I have a lead on one and have been studying up on them.

Get a Santa Cruz Solo, or, if you're man enough, a Santa Cruz Bronson.

Seriously though an Ibis Ripley may be the perfect blend of XC/trail bike.

So far, I have confirmed that I am further behind on the new gear than I thought. Slightly better off than the guy wearing the styrofoam bowl helmets with neon accents.

I have a Niner Jet 9 and have been very pleased with it, and I'm not even that big of a rear squish fan. It climbs so well I sometimes forget it's rear squish. I think Cyclepath built it up for me roughly a couple years ago, and I like it more as time goes on.

I'm closer to 50 vs. 40 now, and it's getting harder for my back to ride my hardtail when the ride gets close to 4 hours in the saddle.

One gear really is enough..but my knees have forced me to go 1x10.

Are there any shops in the Charlotte area that will have Niners or Santa Cruz bikes on the floor?

I have not been in a bike shop (other than Performance Bike for necessities) in so long that I dont know who sells what any more.

I just picked up a jet 9 RDO a few weeks ago. Glad I did. I have no complaints.

Have you looked at the 650b bikes? Per se the Genius from Scott...they have them in aluminum and carbon, depending on your price point.

Oh my!  I am not a brand loyalist, but Dave seems to get things right when it comes to geometry.
