Hey ya'll! Newbie here to this type of adventure. Can any experienced riders give me some tips and advice? ie Do I need to pack drop bags? What about on the bike...I'll have my camelbak, co2, basic fixit stuff....any must have's?
Any advice appreciated.
Thanks!!
Scott

In 50 mile plus races I always bring or make sure the aid stations have:

1.  Chain lube  (if its muddy you will need it)
2.  Chamois Butter or Vaseline
3.  Food
4.  Chain tool
5.  Quick link
6.  Spare tube
7.  Patch kit (small)
8.  Big air CO2
9.  Small piece of plastic from 2 litter soda bottle for sidewall repair.
10 2 zip ties

Other things to consider

If you wear contacts some saline
Make sure you brake pads will last for the race, if in doubt change them.

Jerdon Mountain is only 30 miles.  The aid stations are well stocked with food, water and mechanic support. I would do one drop bag at Rest Stop two with a spare tube and C02.  Put on some Chamy lube before the race and have some gel or bar food in you camel bak just in case you bonk between rest areas.    You will be fine.  You will spend most of your time on fire roads and pavement.

Shearing the shaft member after a hard ride is acceptable in my book.
