BYT trailwork Sunday the 4 at 10 am.

Alright ladies and gentleman and you to Pegan. Going to have a workday this Sunday @ 10 am (weather permitting). This will not be an all day thing. I to have better things to do (swimming and fishing) than spend all day working my ass off out there getting eaten alive by mosquitos. We will meet at the Farmbrook entrance to cut up a few trees and turn them into ROUGH log piles. Yes I said ROUGH log piles. Thats one of the things that has been missing for about 10 years. One will be after the Jesus saves bridge and the other by the dragon. Then if we have enough people we can get some of the other stuff by the Marty bridge, poo tracks and across the service road. Lots of stuff down. I will call plant manager to get us in Sunday if need be. I have 3 so far any more takers out there? Post up or pm me need a head count. There is also alot of drain work that needs to be done. Been about 2 years. We will really need help with that in the near future. If you ride out there put some time back in and bring a friend. If someone has a sledge hammer they could bring that would be a big help with the log piles. I don't see any more trail features getting done until regular maintenance gets taken care of. Hope to see some of your smiling faces Sunday morning @ 10 at the Farmbrook enterance. Will go talk to the neighbours about parking.

Thanks for your help today JR. Thats 3 big and 1 small gone and a small log pyramid added just for fun. We cut and ran so if you happen to come up to a few cut logs please take the time to stop and move them way off the trail. Trail is very wet. Rained right before we got there Only 10 or so to go and lets not forget the 2 at MD. Rocky if you like we both will go out monday and put flags in where the drains are / need to go. People if you are out at ANY of the trails in the area please take a little time and play pick up sticks, you and your friends can play along and your trail coordinators and helpful gnomes might get a little time off and be able to ride when it dries up some. Thanks!

Thanks to all of you who have replied. 2 big clusters of trees and a few small branches to cut up most of it is on the front 3 miles. Thanks to those of you who have been playing pick up sticks out there it helps out. I can tell how much has been picked up over the last couple of days.

Thanks to all of you who showed up today to remove trees and build log overs. I think about 14 total along with the 4 that cut out the logs that were going to use and did anyway. Now looks like a nice long log ride with a drop off in our future. I think one more tree on the FB side then two over on the MD side. I think that Mutt will post pic of work. Again thanks to all who helped today.

Got a lot done out there for sure.  I didn't get too many pictures though, because we were, uh, busy.

Thanks to everyone that gave up some ride time to take care of your local trails.

Rode it yesterday evening - this one is pretty smooth and easy to clear. The second one near the Dragon...not so much  Grin

Ran into a third one somewhere on the FB side. It looks new...just one small log on each side of the tree...my crankset definitely did not appreciate this one!!!

i have moved a lot of trees back there over the years and Sunday's efforts matched that of the icestorm many years back. We should have built a club house with all the lumber that was moved. As someone who lives in Madison Park across the street Thanks again to everyone that came out. I think i even saw a tear in Scott's eye when he saw how many people showed up to work.

Finally got to ride tonight. London is right, the first log over by jesus saves bridge is nice and smooth. It dosn't slow you down much but reminds you that you are on a mountain bike.

The second one by the Dragon is harder, but ridable. It takes an initial hit of momentum but once you are on the back side it is nice and smooth. Great job out there!!!

I will say the area where the tree fell by the dragon may need a few directional signs. We cleared out so much underbrush when the top of the tree was cleared that essentially a new short cut was created. It is now easy to skip a large section of the trail.

If you have some signs I am happy to go out there and put them up. I can also reorganize some of the logs to keep people on trail.

I'm glad that this is an environment where you feel free to fail.

If you would like to just drag branches over to the cut through that would help. Thanks for help cutting up that spot. Heading out today to finish driving rebar into log pile to hold it in place. Jesus saves log pile is missing 2 picies on the backside. If it is not raining and my drill dosent burn up.
