Forgive me father for I have Strava'd...  Embarrassed

Since day 1, Ive been anti-Strava. I didnt want to make riding like work. Its supposed to be fun. But, after much soul searching, Ive decided that in order to get back into shape from several weeks off the bike(and approx. 16.3lbs of pimento cheese consumed in 3 weeks) I would  join the Dark Side of Strava. No I will not be "that guy" trying to get KOMs while shoving small children and animals out of the way and generally pissing everyone off. I will use it to track my progress and more importantly distance, avg. MPH, and elevation gain.

My first mountain ride as a Strava-ite was at Cane Creek Park which is almost never ridden by anyone excpet myself and maybe SCOTT_T. So anyone looking to make the trip down to wild and wonderful Waxhaw...heres the ride I usually do. Hope to see yall out there

As of yet, I have never loaded a ride on strava. ( I do have a account that I'll make more active in the future). Alot of my friends use Strava. We have alot of fun commenting on each others rides and poking fun.  It is good to push yourself and others  to achieve higher goals. It's only work if you want it to be.

Do what you like. Stop hating people for their riding habits and get back to hating them for their skin color, religion, politics, and sexual orientation.

I use Strava for all my rides. I have never once felt the need to chase a KOM.  Most if us keep track of our times already. This is no worse. I think it's a good motivational tool. And it's really cool to see what your friends are doing.

I'll admit to having Strava on my phone too  Wink. I hardly ever use it but sometimes it's useful to be able to track mileage when the computer on my bike isn't working or whatever. It's also fun to use when you ride an unfamiliar area and you can see what route you took etc.

Our doubts are traitors and make us lose the good we oft might win by fearing to attempt.

Yup I'm especially fond of their Pepper Jack Pimento Cheese.  Grilled cheese sandwiches with that stuff is amazing

Banjo, I was just at HT in Ballantyne and could not find anything called Pimento or Palmetto cheeses. Whats the deal?!! I need to get me some! I looked in the specialty cheese section and the domestic cheese cooler Do I have to ask for it? Sad

I am out of shape, slow, know it, dont care and Strava all my rides.  Just like anything else it can be fun.  Things I find fun about it:
-Tracking the distance and elevation profiles of trails you dont ride all the time.
-Being able to see where your ride went on Google Maps.  I know you ride in the woods, so you may even be able to use it to link some rides together that you have never thought of.
-Comparing rides and segments against yourself, your friends and other folks
--I use a heart rate monitor most of the time and its interesting to see on places that you ride often (for me Sherman) where your heart rate is on certain parts of the trail.  You can also see if you were "slow" or just not trying very hard.
-It easily links to Facebook if you care to share.

Don't fogert that I can send you a link to my ride in Gainsville @ Chicopee or Old Toll Road and you can load it in your Garmin and do the same route without having to use a map.

THings like this allow users to gone on trips they would normaly not do.

No way. I've been eating pimento cheese 28 years now and believe me, Ruth's aint no Palmetto cheese. Ruth's is like eating dirt or cardboard comparatively. The jalapeño or pepper jack is good...but I like the regular. Call me old fashioned.

Now if ya wanna get crazy... Here's a sandwich to beat all
Sourdough thick cut bread toasted with garlic butter, thick cut piece of fried livermush, pimento cheese and a fresh garden mater...your welcome.
