So, what's an acceptable amount for a shop to charge for mounting tires in a tubeless fashion?  Let's assume the wheels are already taped, valves installed, and I'm providing the Stan's.  Let's also assume that I gave it a shot myself, the tires are too loose (my story), and fail ensued.

Let's see, prior to going tubeless a respected shop doing repairs on my bike replaced a tube that "had a slow leak" for only $15 plus another $7 for install.  So my best guesstimate is $112.

Actually, I had the same situation as you, couldn't get my tires to seat. Brought my own Stan's and took them to Patrick at Sun&Ski and he aired them up for free.

I had a similar issue last week.  Mark and Myself could not get a tire to air up tubeless due to a loose bead.  I solved it by first seating the bead with a tube and let it set like that with about 40 psi for two days to stretch out the bead.  I then removed the tube leaving one side of the tire still seated, added sealant and re-inflated the tire with no issues.

Are you using an air compressor? Did the tires blow off or could you not get them to seat?

Most shops would probably charge around 10 bucks a tire to air it up tubeless or they might not even charge at all depending on how much work was involved..

Shearing the shaft member after a hard ride is acceptable in my book.

Am I following that correctly - $22 to change a flat including tube?!

Yup, seems they were running a 1 for the price of 3 special.

I just head to the gas station.  Free air at Gilead and 115.  Most other places 75 cents or less.

Yeah I hit up the cashions there all the time for air.

The problem I've encountered is sometimes I need to remove the valve core from the Presta valve to get enough air going in there.  But that's a catch 22 because I don't have a fitting for the air compressor that really embraces that situation.

Thankfully, the guys at Ultimate got me sorted today for what was more than a fair price.  Some reliable, helpful folks there....
