I'm used to buying XTR shifting cable sets, but doesn't appear they are selling those now with that branding.  What's the comparable?

If you hadn't tried them before, you might look into the Gore Ride-On cables. Low-friction coating on the cable & an internal sleeve that runs from shifter to derailleur to keep the cable clean and moving smoothly. I think they last longer than other cables I've bought too. They're a bit pricey, but you can find them online, and occasionally on sale at the LBS. And if you're used to paying the XTR premium, you might not blink.

Bike Rummer says that gore ride on cables aren't being produced anymore.  Another option:  (You need to Login or Register to view media files and links)

I have used Jagwire Ripcord (now Mountain Pro Shift) with good results.

Gore is still available.  All stock is just distributed and licensed by SRAM.

Smiley on the Jagwire Ripcord; I've been running it on my geared bikes since 2005.  Also been swapping out my stock hydro hoses for the (You need to Login or Register to view media files and links) in order to add a little bling.   Cool

Sager, glad you like Jagwire cables.  There are not the cheapest or the most expensive.

Pro's
- Chose of cables colors let's you add some BLING to your bike.
- Smooth shifting (Teflon coated cables)
- Cables that do not compress much (Kevlar reinforced housing)

Con's
- Price?

I also use their brake cables on my Hybrid bike with SRAM BB7s and seem to be well suited for mechanical brakes.
