5 vintage MOMBAT bikes in 20 Anniversary BIKE mag

Print Post
A couple of months ago, BIKE magazine sent a photographer out to take pictures of some of our vintage bikes for their 20th anniversary issue.  We provide 5 of the 6 bikes for the "^ odd bikes that awed" feature.  Each bike was a full page.  They shot 16 bikes and some detail shots so their may be some photos in future issues as well.

I remember riding at Tsali in '98 or so one weekend...caught up to a group ride & got behind a guy on that very same Manitou F/S with the front shocks on the seat stays...I recall marvelling at how well it seemed to work, although it was prolly a bit flexy.

That C-dale STILL looks awesome!

We sold quite a few of the Y bikes.  They still look good just don't ride that well compared to what is available today.  The nude carbon with polished swingarm was always my favorite.  Remember the Y 5 0, that was an interesting bike.

That Cannondale is New Old Stock.  We stopped selling Cannondale in 2000 and had a few leftover 1999 bikes that we couldn't get rid of.  Just decided to hang onto the F2000 and Raven.

Those Manitou frames are very crack prone.  Another collector had a New Old Stock one that cracked while hanging on the wall!

"cracked while hanging on the wall!"

Wow...just wow.

I really liked the polished Answer frames with the fat elastomer shock under the top tube...there used to be one hanging on the wall at the old shop on Selwyn Rd a # of years ago.

Love the old Magura HS-22 rim brakes.  Had a set on my old C-dale and loved them...until disk brakes. Smiley

Magura HS-22 with Altek levers, still better than a bunch of the disc brakes available today.

Loved the Spinergy rims back in the day. Just stopped by your shop last Friday for the first time. Really enjoyed looking around at all the history. Especially the Klein Mantra.
