"Blind curves are a danger on Charlotte greenways."
Title of the story.
Ban curves. Straight out and backs only please.

That greenway goes through my backyard. Anybody that speeds around that blind corner and hits somebody deserves to be prosecuted to the full extent. That is reckless endangerment. Of course when the line of sight is clear let er rip!

Again, can speed limits for bikes, speed bumps, bicycle enforcement officers and radar guns be far off? How about outright bicycle bans?

Like somebody pointed out, all it takes is for some toddler in his stroller to have a head on collision with some bully on a bike masquerading as a legend in his own mind.

Guess you just have to have kids to understand that point (Hum, I don't have kids).

Considering the history of mankind, I suppose it's the natural order of things.

Then folks will have something else to b***h about. The law that was put in place by public outcry to protect them from themselves.

Common sense principle of movement - Over running the limits of ones own sensory perception may result in serious consequences.

Alas, some folks just have to learn everything the hard way. And like some famous person once said;

Quote:
"If someone is heading off a cliff, give them plenty of room."

Too bad they so often take others on their journey of self-discovery along for the ride.

Besides, there are plenty of places to run speed trials on your bike like Speed Racer, if that's your cup of tea. Like I-77.

I mean if you're bound and determined to go Jackass, you'd might as well go full flavor and stop the wussy Greenway stuff.

riding the greenway can sometimes be like a human slalom. at these times its best to keep a finger on the brake lever. at high traffic times on the greenway you may have to come to a complete stop, at any time for no reason whatsoever. It is what it is.

I'm going to pitch the city on speed limit cameras for greenways, etc. You will all have to register and plate your bikes....ie registration fees, possibly inspections, property taxes, speeding tickets.

You're welcome.

Paint a double-yellow down the middle. Stay on your side. If you cross the line and hit someone, it's on you. If you're strolling on the wrong side and get mowed down, it's on you.

Is there a way to have Strava segments deleted? I often ride from my home to BYT and back and use the Little Sugar Creek Greenway to get there. I was appalled to see there are Strava segments on the greenway. Don't get me wrong, I love Strava but it is the stupid thing to have segments on a mixed use trail like the greenway.

That's a good idea.

Especially on parts where sight distance is limited.

Beats the heck out of signs only, which nobody reads.

I have become more of a road bike rider in the last two years and frequently use the Mallard Creek Greenway as a cut through. The main problem I see people walking, running, riding, people do not stay on their side of the road. Many times I have to yell out rider left or rider back. Come on people use common sense. On another note, these are the same people who walked by when my wife fell and broke her foot on the Mallard Creek Greenway one month ago and never stopped or asked if they could help us. I know their are good people out there, but why do I constantly run into the Dumb*** people all the time?  Angry

If you go to the Segment page I think you can flag it as "dangerous" or whatever.  I don't think one report will get it taken down but a few probably do.  I'm not completely sure on this though.
