ticked off snakes at fisher farm

I rode at fisher farm today came up on a black snake right after the last clearing went to ride by after it crissed the trail it then jumped out at me and bit my left shoe. The at the last climb before tbe parking lot another ond jumped out at me and hit my back tire. I think someone pissed them off today. I really belive snakes don't like mountain bikers. But the first scared me enough that I made it through the rock garden after the hard left turn I usually get stuck there in the middle of the rocks. Anyone riding out there this week keeps your eys open.

i saw a pretty healthy black snake in/around the enchanted forest laying right across the trail. I got stopped quickly enough to not hit him, i picked up a stick and shoo'ed him off the trail and he moved like lightning. Better to pi$$ him off a little than have him wrapped around my front wheel/fork  Wink

I usually pick them up and talk to them for awhile. They know me. Smiley  Plus I released a 5footer out there last year that was trying to find a meal in my chicken coup! I've released 3-4 snakes out there over the years.

I haven't seen a snake at Fisher in some time now. However, I did see a fawn and momma yesterday. After I stopped, the fawn pranced away, but the mom was curious enough to take 10 steps toward me, until she figured me out - then bolted!

snakes seem pretty active right now.  The smaller snake i rode up on at Steve's was moving fast across the trail and when I came up, he reared up and turned quickly in a different direction.

I saw the same deer about a week and a half ago there, right before the wider/double track section on the green. She didn't stick around very long though. Haven't seen any snakes myself. Planning on riding tonight, hopefully I won't see any then either.

I second this. I am all for protecting animals, but after having a completely unprovoked copperhead snap at me, I have no love for them. If I see them, and they don't immediately go the other direction, they become part of my next trail feature. I am convinced they are quietly planning our demise.

I have a hard time believing this whole black snake coil and strike a moving rider fable. I did see 4 slithering beasts on my ride at LKNSP sat. No copperheads though. They're def out in full force right now.

FYI do not cause any intentional harm to any wildlife at any park, please.

I still don't understand why people are scared of some animals. Tongue

Copper Head at my wife's job. Under glass, of course.

Black Rat snake I found hiding under my house.  Was wondering why there weren't any mice lately. Wink  And yes, he now resides at Fisher.

Found this fella in one of the old barns at Fisher.  He was about 4 ft long.
