Quick Shimano Bleed Question

Need to bleed the brakes on my dads bike, and he has the entry level Shimano BR-M466 brakes on it.

I've seen a lot of different videos based on pre or post 2012 brakes.

Here is a picture of his lever:

I can access the reservoir via that bigger round screw and my fitting from my Avid bleed kit can fit that.  Or I can remove all three screws and have access to the large reservoir.

Which way should I go about it?  Should I just add mineral oil to the reservoir and pump the bubbles out and collect the old fluid in a water bottle at the caliper, or should I push fluid up from the caliper, and collect in a second syringe at the lever, similar to the way I bleed avid brakes?

Thanks as always,

Brad

After looking around think I'm just going to do it the quick and old way.  Just remove the entire top cap.

Dont do that. Just remove the bleed screw.

Okay if going that route I've seen quite a few people say just push fluid up into the lever syringe and knock out air bubbles in the line close it up and call it a day.  What do you do for that method?

Youve got the right idea.

Have a syringe minus the plunger attached to the lever about a quarter full of oil.

Have a complete syringe at the caliper about half full and begin to push oil UP to the lever until you have exhausted most of the fluid in your caliper syringe or until the lever syringe is about full... you should have the lever loose enough to rotate it by hand to try and move it about to work loose any trapped air bubbles (very subtle up/down movements)

Pull oil back down till the lever syringe is about an 8th full then put the plunger back in it- unscrew it and put the bleed screw back in.

before removing the caliper syringe give a light tug on it- and then depress it to pressurize the system.

Call it a day.
