Park Road Park this Saturday

Print Post
Just a friendly reminder that we are having a trail work day at Park Road Park this weekend.  Saturday the 19th we will have two work sessions, the first from 9 to noon and the second from 1 to 4.  From noon to 1 we will grill food in the parking lot.  If I get enough interest in Sunday I will add a session that day as well.  Bring your bikes so you can ride before or after lunch.  We will be building two bridges, a kiosk, finishing up the stream crossing, fixing a few problem areas and cutting in another ½ mile of trail.  We are very close to an official opening.  If we get enough help it can happen this weekend.

Please let me know if you are planning to come out and if so which session.  I need to plan for food and we are working so many different things I need to make sure everything is in place.  As always, bring gloves and water.  We could use a few pairs of loppers and another cordless drill.  Otherwise we should have enough tools for a small army.

Me and the youngin' will be there.  Plan for extra food, or plan to eat before he gets to it.

Will 12 hotdogs and 8 hamburgers be enough?  Also,  am or pm?

He'll eat that for breakfast before we leave the house.

First shift, and of course lunch.

Big thanks to worker-rider for helping me pre-fab the kiosk this morning and rough cutting new trail all afternoon.  And thank you Rocky and Jack for walking the new trail lay out with us this afternoon.  I'm shocked how much more trail we are adding.

A reporter from WSOC 9 will be there in the morning doing a story on the club.  Wear your club shirts if you have them.  Bring a chair if you have one for lunch.  See you tomorrow.

What a great day.  I think our final head count was 35 workers.    It was so great to see a mix of new and old faces.  We built almost a mile of new trail, two bridges, one kiosk and finished a bunch of little items.  I will post some pictures eventually.  Or not.

I can start you off with some pics of the bridge work.

It was fun to get some work done out there.
