Coming from a FS 29 that I was on for a couple years I think 27.5 is way more fun for FS. I would still ride 29 for single speed though.

I rode 27.5 in Moab this year and last year.  It is absolutely not hype.  A 27.5 wheel change direction faster then a 29er and rolls better than a 26".

However, if you are tall enough to fit a 29er well (likely 5'6"+) and are ok with 6" of travel or less, a well built 29er will eat up a 27.5 in the rough and on climbs.

If you have the itch to buy a new bike go for it, but if you want the weight advantage and acceleration advantage of a 27.5, just put carbon wheels on your 29er.

Enve Carbon wheels are the single greatest upgrade I have done to a bike.

Their rims won't work Industry Nine wheels (spokes too thick).

That setup will still not plow through the rough like a 29er.  But that may not matter on may of the trails here.  However, go two hours west, and I do not want anything smaller then a 29" wheel right now.

He's right.  Sedona is much more fun on a 29" SJ FSR. Smiley

Rigid 650b... if the trail had no impediments to forward progress, it's probably the best thing since squeeze butter.

back when I did road biking, there were a few wheel sizes. 700 was the norm, but terry bikes had 650b women specific. I have a couple of friend that travel a lot and ride Bike Friday's. What are those 20" wheels. I think what ever you feel good riding. I know a couple people who just got 29ers ,and love them. And they are the kind of people who don't get a new bike every year or two. And they seem to want to ride more now. And ,they want to go and ride in the Mountains and such. I think when your rolling along, most of the time, you don't even think about what's under you. Just as long as you keep rolling Wink
