Stepped on a copperhead crossing the second down tree on Big Leaf Loop.  Luckily he either got my shoe or missed. When he finally gave my bike back, he did not go far. Be careful.

Holy Shizer, how did you manage to step on him and not see him?  On the trail or off?  That's scary... be safe.

He was sitting on the trail.  I was lifting my bike over the log and not paying attention.  Here is a bad photo.  I was probably shaking a little.

What day and time of day was it?
If it was cool snakey may have been sluggish, and trying to gain some heat before hunting. That would explain why you were not bit and why he did not leave. 

Had that happen with a couple rattlers in the fall and early winter.

BTW: Where is the pile of poop?

Ride was cut short, due to excessive chafing.

Wednesday, 4:30 pm.  He was warm enough to bite a stick a couple of times.
