A lot of climbing with a nice downhill section at the end.  Not too technical but like the name says, pretty rocky.  It also has some pretty cool skill sections that are a bit more technical but they are all optional.

The park Caters to all types of riders - Beginners - Advanced  - Technical - Jumpy All sorts are covered. Few areas built up with Tehcnical Trail features -  Log Rides - Up and Overs - bumps and jumps for a Sessionionable place.  Miles of trails take you up and away- and back down again.

It is built right on the side of a mountain - Climb climb climb - Down down down  Trails are wide and groomed well.   Not a place to spend a whole day - more like a few hours at most. Typical Western NC  Rock in the way for alot of the adventure.

Last time i went - (last fall) they had just blown the lower 2/3 of trail- Easy to navigate.

Hello Hippy;

I recommend some suspension for out there.   Preferably FS.

The climb is not crazy if you take your time.

Rocky Knob is a lot of fun packed into a smallish area. Saturday was my first time riding it since Rocky Branch was the only loop out there. 2/3ds of the trail were freshly blown and the rest was getting taken care of on Sunday. The guys that take care of this will probably do it one more time this season since almost all of the leafs are down now. It is not an overly difficult set of trails but picking a good line through some of the rockier climbs will help a LOT.

Take your time, make some loops of different sections and play around in the skills areas and you can have a solid afternoon there. Make the climb to the top and make an extra lap or two around Ol Hoss/BoatRock. The new pump track is a lot of fun and is well built. My only wish was that I had been able to find my 20t cog before I left Durham. It was a leg/lung buster with my bike set up 32/18 for my first trip back up there.

Started from the Bottom...

Just start at the bottom and follow the signs.  It is a 7.2 mile loop if you go all the way to the top (recommended).  There are some technical sections on the climb, but nothing overly crazy, same thing on the way down, but it is well laid out and you can see all the technical sections coming.

I have suspension, It may be old and a little stiff. But it's still working for the time being Wink Cheesy
