Anyone know if the fires in Linville / Pisgah are impacting trails.  Thinking about Wilson's Creek in particular.

I was thinking Raspberry might have got burned depending on what direction the fire went? I know they evacuated the houses at the top.

I'm pretty sure Side Hill burned.

All the maps I find online are too tiny to read, and since I'm not familiar with maps of the area... I'm lost on paper.

Definitely not Raspberry, the fire didn't move North of Spence Ridge Trail and didn't cross the FS road, Raspberry is a few miles north of Hawksbill.

The fire really sucks, but I don't think any bike trails are affected unless there are more that I don't know about.

This doesn't mean that the area isn't closed right now because the fire is not out and they are still working to control it and that is likely a major access road.

From the second link, the area of the fire is a lot smaller than what I was thinking. Thank goodness.

Rode Razz last sunday and the road closed sign was right at the top. Assuming they probably had a few mile buffer from the fire most "biking" trails are probably ok.

Hopefully the same holds true for homes in the area.

And next time the FS recommends a controlled burn to eliminate fuels, these folks will let the FS do their job   Smiley

I am not sure I understand your comment.  It looks like it wasn't the Forest Service that jacked this up but someone else?

Furthermore, the Pilot Mountain prescribed burn was a N.C. State Parks, not a Forest Service, project

Or was that your point and i just missed the sarcasm?

Just a bit of smart-assery....Implying that sometimes it's a good idea to "reduce fuels", and if you don't, you're going to eventually have a fire anyway, and probably a lot bigger.
