Parks and Rec don't build OR maintain the trails out there, my trail crew and i do.

The work you do is great and underappreciated, but you are flirting with a fine line.  You dont own the trails nor do you have any real authority.  I mean theoretically anyone that owns a home that has a higher tax value than yours, and pays their taxes owns more of the trail than you do.

There was never a question of ownership, only responsibility. As the person who fixes the trail out there i asked someone not to mess it up. I guess we should comb through county records to find out who has the biggest house in mint hill and ask them to open or close the gate at sherman. Im done. Trail was wet and posted closed.  I asked someone (nicely by the way) to respect that and not to ride. End of story and I would do it again.

Man, a little bit of rain and everyone loses their damn minds....

If the trail status is "closed", then it's closed. For everyone.
No one is special, no matter what shops and logos they have on their kits.
And instead of squabbling about trail authority, maybe some people should show up for some trail workdays and find out what goes in to making/keeping trails ready to ride.

Let's quell these electronic dick measuring contests....

Besides building and maintaining trails(Thank You!) some of the trail coordinators and workers like to:

Post childish and inflammatory you tube video depicting aggressive trail stewards,
see the first post in this thread, (Thank You! Patrick),

Booby trap the trails
"Glad I put out the pungy sticks last night..."(Thank You! CyclePath)

and threaten murder
"Lots of area on Farmbrook side for "burial plots" and the poop plant would help cover up your stench.
Don't let me catch you." (Thank You! JR)

What kind of comments were you guys expecting to see?

JoeT,

I think you need to calm down and not get so butthurt over some internet forum posts.
You must log a lot of hours helping out with trail work, so let me apologize in advance from all the thankful TC's...

...oh, and who threatened anything? I don't really have plots ready. Would seem wasteful to not help feed the local coyotes...

Man.. The most valuable lesson I have learned out here in the northwest is to shut up and ride. Seriously.. It sure is nice to ride with everyone that rides regardless of wheel size or coolness. This lends itself to more people on the bikes and on the trails having fun.

I am really not looking foward to riding amongst a bunch of bitchboys. Why is it up for debate that riding trails when they are muddy is bad for the trails in charlotte? They are red clay.. You really want that goo on your 9000 dollar Niner ?

I yell at people all the time for driving like dickheads but it's not my road and technically not even my car because the bank owns more of it than I do at this point. Does that forfeit my right to let my preferences be known?

Seriously, the tc has the right to let the rules be known. Enforcement not so much.. But yelling is encouraged in my book. Teaching one human at a time to not be a careless, entitled jackass. I can guarantee the people trying to ride when the trails are muddy have never picked up a shovel.

For lesser offenses, trail dragging behind a meet up of the Dirt Divas should be sufficient.

I am sure you were out riding because you sure don't know how to use a shovel Grin. By the way if any of you keyboard jockeys would like to learn how to use hand tools your TC can learn ya. Mark just got me 5 new sets that will put calluses on your hands instead of getting them on your fingertips from your keyboards. Get out and pitch in instead of sitting on your butts bitching and moaning. As Jack says many hands make light work! People will ride wet trails because they have NO idea what it takes to keep them in good riding condition and don't give a s##t! You all know this is a fact. If those people took time off the bike to help they might understand and respect the work that goes into upkeep. Everyone can give up a day of riding to help once in awhile. If any of you would like to get on our list for MD,PRP or BYT pm me and I will put you on our list. Thanks from your friendly neighborhood TC.
