Charlotte to DC ride for fallen police officers

Mods, wasn't sure where to place this or if it is allowed, if not you can take it down.  If it is left up it would be greatly appreciated and if TTB wants to donate that would be even better.  My dad(traildog) and I will be riding from Charlotte to DC in May to benefit fallen Law Enforcement officers and we need to raise $900 or more between the two of us, $450 each. More is better but the minimum is $900. If anyone can help that would be awesome, if not no big deal. Here is a link to the website for more information and it has a donate link on the site. (You need to Login or Register to view media files and links) If you do donate, put my name in the notes so they know which rider you are donating for, or if you want to donate for my dad put his name, Terry Woodrow. If you do donate please let me know so I know how much more I will need to raise.  Also, all donations are made by you directly to them and all donations are tax deductible!!!!

I work at the Charlotte PD, and was fortunate enough to do the first leg of the ride with them last year. It's a great ride with amazing people. I might be doing it myself in 2014 (depending on how much time I can spend on the trainer!)

There is nothing like having a complete police escort (including a chopper) taking you through the streets of Charlotte and people waving and cheering as you go past. I've heard they also have full police escort in and out of many cities along the way. A great ride for a great cause! If I'm not doing it myself I'll for sure throw you a few bucks for it.

Looking forward to this ride! Definitely will be a challenge.  Broke out the rollers today just to loosen up some.  Should be some good times.

Thank you ChrisC for the offer, we will def need all the money we can get.  I can't wait to do the ride, its gonna be grueling Im sure but it will be awesome to be around everyone for the cause.  I also want to thank Mark at Get in Gear Bikes, he is offering up a lot of help and willing to help me with a fundraiser which I hope to be able to take advantage of soon.  I have to have all the money in by March 15th but hopefully that won't be a problem.  Thanks again to everyone and look forward to speaking with more soon.

awesome cause, and props to Get In Gear for hosting the fundraiser. Any plans to roughly plan a road ride that morning around the Harrisburg area? Im sure Enoch and a few others have some good routes around the shop, couldnt hurt attendance either if the ride ended up back at the shop right? If im off work that weekend id be up for the ride and festivities after.

We welcome & encourage any rides from the shop! We are minutes from Sherman Branch, RRT & even the little Harrisburg Half... Cheesy! There are also numerous road routes by the Strava crowd or those seeking a little peace on the black top. Enoch & crew, feel free to use the shop pva....Might even throw a little shop love to those that ride out, but be sure to "check in" before you take off roadies..! Festivities begin around 1300....a.k.a. 1pm, Raffle at 1400....a.k.a. 2pm...ends till we run out of chili!

Otherwise, the shop will be open normal hours, 10am till 3pm!

Oh, be sure to check out our new site, as well as a contest we've been selected as runners up in the Small Business world. It's a tough run as a LBS, but its our passion & dream for two wheelin' fun.

Hoping for a big turnout this Saturday, March 8 at Get In Gear.  Great people supporting a great cause.  Looking for a ride at Sherman or RRT this Saturday before the chili contest.  Hope to see lots of people there.

Come on out today to Get In Gear Bikes on Hwy 49, get some chili, buy a bunch of raffle tickets for a new Transition Clunker, maybe a brew or two; all for a good cause.  Officially starts at 1.

Sorry for the delay, but here is a little glimpse into what you missed! Again we wanna thank ALL who came out and supported the cause. Hope to see you on the trail's soon. As for the actual Bike to D.C. ride itself, over 110 cyclist will be leaving on May 9th & begin their journey along 49 and hit 500 miles in 4 days. If out & about that Friday morning, be sure to honk or waive as they go right through the heart of the city, up by UNCC & into the grand Cabarrus County countryside!

How is the fund raising going?  This a great cause and I appreciate you taking the time to make a difference. Are they pooling the funds for you and your Dad or are they two separate minimums that need to be met?

Fundraiser covered both of us.  I'm sure there are others that may need help with raising the funds though.  Get in Gear definitely stepped up.  Good turnout, good chili and nice raffle!  Visit the website to donate.  Thanks.

As told to me by the group organizer Ron, who works for the City of Charlotte, the group overall still has their needs for the goal to be met. While certain riders have obtained their minimum, apparently the group has one too. Here is the link as sent to me, from Ron. For those wondering, any/all donations monetary was are tax deductible. Last year Get In Gear Bicycles crew sponsored two CMPD gal's and this year after being approached first assisted 2 Pineville Officers. Who knows for what's next year...500 miles, 4 days but plenty of sag support I've been told.

Yes, like traildog said, the fundraiser so graciously put on by get in gear covered our part of the fundraising.  As Bikedad said, the group still has a number that we need to meet and are continuously accepting any donations at all.  You can donate on my behalf or my dads or you could probably make it to help out whoever.  Thanks to all that have helped and thanks again to Get in Gear for helping make this happen.

PS...thanks bikedad for bringing that one thing to my attention, I had not seen it and am glad that Enoch got it taken care of.
