Not the condition I would like, but i'm hoping that some traffic will flatten out the ruts put in last Saturday. All pretty much dry with the exception of a few spots. Trail surface in the rutted areas is still pliable and will level out. If you can't use your brakes with control stay home. Control is not locking the rear wheel like a rudder or plow. I know I'm ranting to the choir here.

So which of the lower cogs did you get rid of?  I guess it kinda makes sense to shed the 11t so that you keep the shifting ramps consistent.

If I did this, I could go from the 34t chain ring to a 36t on my 1x10.  Or would that negate getting the 42t cog?  I need to check out the gear calculator on Sheldon Brown site.

34/36 = .944 gear ratio
36/42 = .857 gear ratio, or about the equivalent of a 30t ring with a 36t big cog.

You'd still get a lower gear.  To get the equivalent of the 34/36 with the 42t you'd need a  39t or 40t front chainring.

So far i dumped the 17 like the instructions originally said  I have only been on 2 rides.  We will see where i end up.  I really have not rode it enough to make a decision on if i like it or not yet.

Kit, you can't shed the 11 tooth cause that's the one the lock ring meshes with. Doh!!

no rain so far.

Ole Chunky is blocked for tree removal this morning. You can either turn left down Kamikaze or drop down and do the section that contains the Viaduct. I'll get out sometime this morning and try to make that clearer. The blocking is very clear no "oh I didn't know". Should be finished by 12:00.

The tree on ole chunky was cleared before the first riders made it this morning. Also was given word of a downed tree on No Name Extension we've cleared it also.
