My SMART helmet finally came in today.  I have only used it siting in my house and a brief spin on the bike, but so far the heart rate is dead on to my timed measurements.  The helmet uses an optical sensor that sits on your forehead.  I'm happy to get away from the glitchy HR straps.

For someone who needs a new helmet and wants to consolidate equipment, I see this as being an excellent choice.  However if you just want a heart rate monitor I would look into the new Mio Link.  I will probably pick up one of those too.
