The folks at Faster Mustache have been hard at work to provide you with another unique experience.  Be prepared to ride places you've never ridden before and may never ride again!

Same concept as last year.  Lotsa riding around town, some racing, beer, fun.

Sign up now.  Space is very limited.

We'll do a quick technique clinic beforehand so folks can brush up on their skills.

I forgot to include a (legitimate) update.

There are three classes at the Tour duh Charlotte.

Open Men
Open Women
Party Pace/Animal

Open classes pay $25 for a day's worth of racing, riding, food, beer... and the chance to win a crap ton of prizes.

The Party Pace/Animal class is only $15.  You'll enjoy the same ride, spectating the races, the food and beer, and maybe a chance to have any remaining swag tossed towards your head at the after party.

Register here:

This year's event will be less alternative bike friendly than last year.  Mountain bikes are highly recommended for maximum enjoyment.  Carrying two tubes (or hanging out with someone who brought plenty of spares) might not be a bad idea.

Video of last year's event here:

and some photos to show you what you're in for:

Super dooper... this rolling party is almost at fifty registered riders so far.  Probably will double in size before it's all said and done.

I just rode 2/3 of the course two nights ago.  I'm pretty sure 99% of the people that show up will see something they've never seen before.

Important updates regarding the race:

(You need to Login or Register to view media files and links)

About This Year's Event

Tour de Charlotte 2014 is shaping up to be an exciting event. The route is a bit shorter than 2013 at about 25 miles, but much more challenging. All participants will ride trail, gravel, and dirt roads in addition to paved city streets and paths. So we highly recommend an off-road bike this year.

The Stages

We will have four stages. Here are some hints, in no particular order:

1. XC Short-track (fast)

2. XC Short-track (technical)

3. Cyclocross (extra climby)

4. Paved Criterium (super twisty)

What if I Can't Keep Up?

We want to make Tour de Charlotte accessible to everyone, but we also want to finish with the group intact before sundown. If and when riders in the group fall behind the 'Sweeper' (an event official that keeps pace at the back of the group), they will be on their own. They can shortcut the event to a later stage, head over to the after-party a little early, or head home. For this reason we must insist that all participants follow these rules:

ALL RIDERS MUST:

1. Be self-sufficient (food, water, tools, cell-phone, navigation, packable rain jacket)

2. Ride with an "Accountabilibro" (a partner who will stay with you if you get "swept")

3. Be relatively fit and capable of riding all day long

4. Ride a bike suitable for trail riding

5. Wear a helmet

6. Bring a front and rear light for your bicycle (just in case)

Participants can race as many stages as they want, or they can just ride along and spectate (Party Pace). Awards will be given to the top finishers for each stage, as well as the top finishers overall. We'll even have prizes for the Party Pace Pounders.

Register HERE (You need to Login or Register to view media files and links)

$25 - Racers
$15 - Party Pacers

Just an FYI:

You know those bicycle race events where you pay like $75 and you get like one or two beer tokens at the end? This is NOT one of those events! At the Tour de Charlotte afterparty, we're serving beer all night long and we're doing it in style thanks to the Crafty Beer Guys!! These guys are the local experts on draft beer systems. And then there's this:

Besides beer, we got all kinds of swag piled up.  Like a stupid amount.  Like you wouldn't expect from a race starting outta someone's backyard just off Eastway.

Weather's perfect.  Beer will be cold and plentiful.  The racing... it will happen as well.

Don't race?  Come party pace for $15 and enjoy the food, beer, good times, spectation... pretty sure we'll have too many prizes for just the racers, so we'll have to figure out what to do with the leftovers.

Nineteen hours left to pre-register.  Day of will be $5 more... plus a game of bloody knuckles you just can't win.

I signed up to this back in Feb but am now unable to participate due to work. I've signed up for the Open Men event.

If the organizers don't object, I don't mind transferring my entry to anyone else interested in going. I don't want anything for it (perhaps you can give something to a homeless guy or something) so if anyone is interested PM me.

Teamdicky, how do I go about transferring the entry to another person should someone want to take my entry?

I would just post something on the Tour duh Charlotte FaceBook page.  An official official might have an answer.
