Trails with water access

Are there any trails in the area (besides LKSP) that have access to fishable water?  Thinking about rigging up a way to strap a rod to the bike, putting a small tackle box in the camelback, and trying to catch a few fish after I get done with a ride.

Beatty, Sherman Branch, WWC, Poston all have lakes.

I used to ride; now I just drink and cry about not riding.

Any fish at sherman?  I've seen quite a few people fish there... I'd just be surprised unless someone is stocking it?  I have however come across folks that fish out there that claim there are some lunkers in that lake?  If so, i think that would be a plus to get my boys (oldest 6) on his bike/trails to get out there and go fish.  Making the Lake a goal for them to get to before they can fish.  That would be awesome, kill 3 birds with one stone, get them out from of the house into nature, get them riding bikes, and teach them how to fish.

My kids are growed up but I've always thought that Sherman would be perfect for just that!

Making the lake would be easy...it's all downhill. Making it back might be a challenge! No sarcasm intended though. That's a great idea and would be the highlight of their week/month/year. Like something I saw the other day said, "A kid will never remember their best day of TV". So true. Make time for this while they're young.

Yeah, the climb back would be the only tough part but I think my boys would be down for it.  My 3year old (2 at the time) last year rode his balance bike at DuPont Guion Farm access area.  He did the kids track/skills section and then he rode from there to wintergreen falls.  He surprised the heck out of me!  I only helped him on the couple of steeper climbs, else he rode the whole thing.  On the way back I had to carry him and his older brother but it was all worth it.  So, I'm hoping Sherman could be a good option if there's fish.  Just anything to keep their interest.

Thanks for the suggestions.  I'll have to check out Sherman soon, and would love to get up to Warrior Creek to kick around for a day or 2.  WWC was on my mind, but I was thinking more of the river and didn't really want to contend with all the folks down there.  Can you fish the lake?

Riverwalk in Rock Hill is on the Catawba River. The trail entrance and exit comes off of a paved trail that runs beside the river. You could even do a ride, go back to the car and grab your fishing stuff then walk back down to the river. I've never fished there but I see people sitting on the banks fishing sometimes.

The trail itself is pretty tough in some spots on the climbing. If you were taking kids and they couldn't do the climbs there is a green loop that isn't that bad. If you wanna make a day of it you could ride, go fishing and then watch the races at the velodrome.

Anne Springs has several ponds on the prairie loop.  Keep in mind that it's SC so you'd need an SC fishing license.  They are not reciprocal with NC.
