Trampled by Turtles is coming to Pisgah Brewing July 19th!
If you're not familiar, they're along the same lines as Avett Brothers. They're fantastic.

I got my tic tics off the Trampled web site. Should have waited and got them from Pisgah ticketing. I disagree with the Avett comparison. Except for their Trouble album,Trampled uses no drums. Which makes them closer to traditional bluegrass. Their feel on a lot of tunes yield more towards punk. They are one of my favorite bands. Dave Simonett  puts out rock stuff, because that is his first love. But still leads Trampled with a vengeance. Avetts lean more towards Americana/Folk like the Lumineers or Mumford and sons. So if you go to see Trampled, don't expect any Avett melodies and harmonies. Avetts are a great band, just a different style. Devil Makes 3 is supposed to open, and they are a great band also. Last summer, they tore it up opening for YMSB at the Pisgah Brewery. Another good show coming up there ,is Leftover Salmon with Little Feat Keyboardist Bill Payne, with Jeff Austin. Mandolin Player for the YMSB opening. Nothing like grass in the hills. If this was Colorado, it would be a plus

Yeah, I could see that being a better comparison. There's this whole spectrum between bluegrass and folk that I've discovered and really enjoyed in recent years, from Nickel Creek to Old Crow, Carolina Chocolate Drops, and Brown Bird. Trampled definitely tops the list though.  I've got a live recording but haven't seen them in concert yet.  I'll have to check out Leftover Salmon too.  Thanks!

Yeah, this is the first time for Trampled for me also. I do have all their albums + that new live with the DVD. I'm excited. In the past I've seen them pop up at a lot of festivals, and last year they did a show in the raleigh area. I'm excited. I missed a couple of shows at Pisgah last summer that I hope are repeated. Like Hot Tuna. I heard Railroad earth might be coming also  Smiley

I have seen them once at the WWC a few years back.  Should be a good show, we got our tickets.

Avetts never used drums (outisde a small kick drum) until Rick Rubin messed with the secret sauce. It used to just be the 2 Avetts and Bob Crawford on bass and that's it. If you listen to "Country Was" or "Carolina Jubillee" or the early live albums (Double Door and Vol. 2) they sounded like a different band. They used to be my favorite band but I don't even know what they are now. I am going to check out Trampled. From the description it sounds like the old Avetts!

Just listened to a few tracks, pretty cool! They sound a lot like Chatham County Line.

I hear there songs pop up a a few soundtracks. I have heard a few on Sons Of Anarchy. If you want to hear them play some straightforward rock. Listen to "Who's Calling" Watch it grass fans,it has a full drum kit............

Also for those fans of Jamgrass. Greensky Bluegrass is one of the best, and they are playing at the NC Brewers and Music Fest.    (You need to Login or Register to view media files and links)

Just had the Pale Ale in a can last week...very disappointed. It loses so much when not served draft. I still prefer their Nitro Chocolate Stout...Summer Ale is good too.
.
Very cool place to enjoy a cold one though. Plus they remodeled and the outdoor stage area is kicka$$. Plus, its about a 15min bike ride from the house...thats trouble with a capitol T Grin

Where did you hear this? I've been preaching The Devil Makes Three to anyone who would listen for years. I saw them a while back at the Handlebar in Greenville SC. Totally rowdy awesome show, would love to see them again even if it's just as an opener.

Devil is their opening band for that part of their tour. Not sure if they will be at Pisgah or not. They were a big hit when they opened for Yonder ,so may Pisgah will bring them back by themselves. They are also on Willie Nelson's tour with a couple of NC dates
