I have a question...I was a couple of minutes faster than everyone in my division last year (junior 14-18) could I do the beginner men? If there is some competition in the junior than I am happy to stay there, it just wasn't a challenge. I will be 17 in April if that helps.

Thanks,
Caleb

Sure you can move up.Your age is not an issue it's a matter of getting out there and trying. I compared your lap times from last years races to the beginner mens times. You looked as if you would be competitive. If you really want to get faster you need to try to make it to more races than you did last year. You would still pay the Jr fee regardless of what class you race in so there is no extra cost for moving up. I will still be registering Jr's and beginners at the races so come out and talk to me.

I think Kendall was 13, maybe 14, and racing Sport class along with a bunch of other guys who weren't quite 18 but were very competitive.

You have the advantage of that youthful metabolism that us 30 and 40 years olds don't.

How many youths typically come out for a race? I plan on bringing my 12 year old out.

Spoke,
Why don't you come out and give your 12yr old a taste of youth raceing at North Meck this Sunday? The kids have a lot of fun and it will be a nice day.

Hey folks....looking like the rain is trying to put a damper on the kick off of the 2014 Summer Series at Renaissance Park.

Stay tuned as we watch the weather and make a decision on the trail conditions for the race.

Hey folks, talked to Parks and Rec and a couple people who stopped by Renni early this evening and they said the trails were underwater in areas. They've received a ton of rain in the past 24 hours. With the cold weather tonight and tomorrow, the trails will be a sloppy mess. Not a good way to start the series so we are going to postpone the series kick off. I wanted to get the word out early.

Please spread the word to all of your two-wheel friends.

Can anyone tell me what trails are used for the beginner course at WWC?  I've never raced before so I'm going to go out today and throw down a quick lap to see where I compare to last years standings to see where I should enter in.

If its like last year...  We ride the same course as everyone else, but Beginners ride just 1 lap.  We rode most of N. Main (all except for 1 small bypass), S. Main with Carpet and Toilet Bowl trails last year.  Its anyone's guess if it will be the same this year, especially considering some of the changes the WWC crews made to some of the trails over the fall/winter, but those trails (N. Main, S. Main, Carpet, & Toilet) will give you a good idea of what you're in for come race day.  Happy Trails!    Smiley

The course is the same for everyone.
The course will not be the same as other years due to changes in the trails at the WWC, not a bad thing really.
The start finish will be under the power wires by the lake loop. You will go in what use to be the exit trail and go straight over to the Trail of Joy. You will ride all the trails on that side of the WWC. We may drop weight station or toilet bowl but not sure so just ride them all. That is if the rain ever stops.

No doubt, maybe we should start racing kayaks instead.

As far as checking your times at WWC, that is pretty much out the window with the trail changes.  You could always do north meck, renni, springs, or fisher as those trails have not changed.  If it was me I would do fisher or renni.  On another note, you will be probably faster during the race than when riding by yourself.  You tend to push a lot harder.  Find someone faster than you and ride in front of them.  That will give you an extra push.

Your best bet would be to just ride all of WWC and take your average speed and compare that to previous years... the trails are changed but it will still be in the ballpark as far as average speeds.  HTH

The North Meck race is a go for tomorrow. The park did not receive a recordable amount of rain from the little spitting showers that came thru today. So pack your bikes before heading to work and bring your race face and we will see you tomorrow afternoon.

Doug, I rode a test lap tonight and went back to haul some gravel to repair a few wet, soft areas. Also, the sand is pretty thick at the creek crossing, I didn't get the chance rake it smooth. It looked like NM didn't get any rain at all.

Doug / Neil, are you going to put the waiver online to print off again this year?
