My 31.6 carbon seatpost is loose where the aluminum clamp head meets the carbon it can rotate about 45 degrees side to side but has zero up/down play... Has anyone seen this?? Short of warranty, any known fixes?

It's a press fit connection at the top of the post.. Carbon friction paste is for seat tubes..

Sounds like you need to call Niner.  Whatever kind of glue or resin they use to bond that must be letting go.

If you can completely remove the clamp system, you can epoxy it back on.

I keep wondering if this is for real... have you tried warrantying the post?

I'm not gluing anything that crucial to my safety.

I'm just surprised you haven't warrantied it with Niner after 8 responses to your original post.  Roll Eyes

They use a special epoxy, don't recommend doing it yourself, warranty the damn thing already...

And here's a few dancing bananas for ya...

Thanks. I am on the fence- I have used some crazy industrial epoxy used for bonding carbon to aluminum on race cars.

I know the seat post is crucial to my safety. Not looking forward to being jailhoused by a carbon tube. But a bond is a bond.. Especially since I used a 3 part epoxy.

Only way I am giving this up is if I can find a dropper for 100 bucks.

It was originaly glued on from the factory but it de bonded, No harm in epoxing it again.
