Isn't your bike a 650B? That gearing might be different and explain why your knees haven't exploded from riding the 39! I've read a hard gear for a 650b is 38x16, so a 39x19 or 18 would probably be just right if you didn't want to get a new ring.

Yes it is to further complicate matters. Keep in mind too that I have only ridden the bike like 4 times so it might be that my knees just haven't exploded yet. Smiley

I think a 34x20 or 32x18 will be the ticket around here. Once you get a different ring, let me know and I'll lend you a 20t cog to try. I'm going to bite the bullet and get a RED Endless Cog, cause they be dead sexy!  You can find the Silver Endless Cogs a bit cheaper than the colored ones...

If 2 to 1* is ideal for a 26" wheeled bike (32x16), and 1.78 to 1* is ideal for a 29" wheeled bike (32x18).

Then a similar ratio to wheel size on a 650b wheeled bike would split the difference and be 32x17 (1.88*) or 34x18 (1.89*).

* crank rotations to wheel rotations.

Actually, Emily, let me know if you want to try a 32 RING, forgot you already had the 20t cog. I was mixed up, like trying to differentiate the snake's body and tail!

Ah yes the mysteries of the universe. Smiley

Thanks very much for your offer. That's very kind of you. Let me see what I can find and I will let you know.  Wink
