I need to get my suspension fork overhauled. It is a rock shox Reba xx. Any recommendations on a local shop or individual to take it too? How difficult would it be to do myself?

Fork seals are definitely a potential diy for the handy bike owner. YouTube has a bunch of vids. It takes some repetition and unfortunately/fortunately you only have to do it 2-3 per year.

If you just want to service the lowers and/or your damper, YouTube videos, service manuals and a little bit of knowledge will get you through it in an hour or less.  You will need new dust wipers, 15wt oil for the lowers and 5wt oil for the damper.

If you want to completely rebuild your fork with all the little o-rings and washers than it will be a more difficult task and probably something you should have done at a shop if you've never opened up a fork before.

Here is a good place to start (You need to Login or Register to view media files and links)

You could always take to Get in Gear or Cyclepath. Both shops do fork rebuilds

Do what you like. Stop hating people for their riding habits and get back to hating them for their skin color, religion, politics, and sexual orientation.

We do fork rebuilds on most forks. Seals, bushings, uppers, lowers, etc.  The only thing we don't do is custom damper valving and rear shock rebuilds, but we do service air sleeves.

Just replaced some lower bushings for Patches' Fox fIT fork yesterday due to some bushing play. Smiley

Call the shop for more details.

BTW Someone who is mechanically inclined and handy with tools can learn how to do this kind of work.  I know many an auto mechanic in here that do all of their and their friends stuff! Wink
