Have You Ridden Renni Lately?

Because I have to tell you, Blair and John have put in a good deal of work improving the current trail system out there. And the new reroutes add a lot of flow to the trail.

I was a little dubious when I started off to the left on the main trail after rounding the corner just past the  short track / main loop. It wouldn't necessarily have been my choice for a reroute (the rooted downhill leading you across the bridge wasn't that bad) - but I was happy to find a flowy trail with a few small tabletops that you could roll or, well, tabletop. And "Wussy Hill" actually has a line or two that makes it climbable now (I know, I know, you all are MTB gods and could climb it at it's worst - but I couldn't).

Nice job gentlemen. It's a shame that, someday, we'll probably lose that loop. In the meantime, keep up the good work.

Give 'em some credit though. And give Renni some love.

i rode that new reroute not too long ago and like it. I haven't ridden there lately due to the freakin gnats. Way too many. Especially on the softball side.

Thinking about riding there Sunday given the gnats aren't crazy. Anyone know if the number of gnats has reduced?

The only reason I don't put Renni in my rotation is because of the car break-ins.  Last time I went (2012), a truck parked next to me got broken in to while I was on the trail.  Is that still a major problem out there?

Rode there on Wednesday and Thursday - didn't encounter a single gnat that I'm aware of (not to mention a swarm). Might have had something to do with the rain or maybe they were clearing somewhere near the trail (construction keeps getting closer) when you encountered them.

Vis a vis the break-ins, I haven't heard anything about them for about a year or so. I don't remember them being an issue last summer either. There was a heavy police presence (and I mean heavy) in the lots last year and maybe they got the message. There were break-ins at North Meck last year; sadly, they happen everywhere. If you are worried about it, park on the tennis court side and ride the trail from there (all the break-ins, to the best of my knowledge, were on the softball side). I've been riding there for four years and have been fortunate so far, I guess. Maybe the CMS faculty parking sticker let's them know there's nothing valuable inside (sometimes they even leave me some gas money under the wipers).

Renny is in great shape.  I haven't noticed any more bugs there than anywhere else, and I ride there frequently.  As for breakins, and I hope I am not jinxing myself, but I have never had, or heard of any co-riders, having any issues with break ins.  Just park down at the tennis court area where there are a ton of cars.  Breakins can happen anywhere.

Thanks,

Justin

Ride to have fun and enjoy the scenery, not to set records…

Packed and ready to roll…

Got down to Renni for the first time in a year and a half yesterday morning.  Parking lot was full for a youth baseball tourney.  Had the trails to myself, though.  Forgot how much fun it was back there, especially when you're carrying some speed.  Thanks to the trail gnomes that are maintaining and improving that place.

Renni is and probably always will be my favorite trail in the area.
That being said, I need to get to helpin the gnomies on some trail work.
