will the jumps be progressive?
The tables will start at around 6-8 feet depending on how much speed is carried out of the top berm. I think the first two will be about the same size but will have lips on them more like traditional jumps. This jump line will be an intermediate level line at the easiest. Because all the jumps will be tables, any rider should be able to start at the top and gradually build up speed and confidence to hit the larger tables. You will not have to worry about casing the jump or landing front wheel first in the gap between jumps.
What I've learned so far is once you can hit a jump, size doesn't matter it's all in your head. The jump line will push you to go bigger as you get to the bottom of the line. You should know that if you can hit the first jump, don't hit your brakes and the next one will be perfect for you to carry speed.
The problem with alot of the BYT stuff is you need to be a superstar to line yourself up before the jump, while in mid-air, and then have a good landing picked out because you will most likely have to brake hard to make a sharp turn or land up-hill. The jump line will be laid out correctly so that if speed is carried all jumps will be relatively easy to jump and land. I will be testing the jumps as we build them to make sure they "work" properly. That is why the trail will be "closed while under construction." As seen with the "Pipe-Dream Gap Jump" we don't have everything perfect yet but we will. We can only work a few hours, once or twice a week, and don't really get it all dialed in before we can leave it.
Short answer long, the jump line will be progessive from top to bottom. I hope, once I'm fully the trail coordinator, to add multilple jumps through-out the trail that will be of small and medium size so riders can adjust to hits on the trail. The jump line provides a concentrated line of jumps that shouldn't surprise anyone because they're located on a jump line.
The Gravity Pirates are more than happy to put on a skills clinic at the jump line once it is built up properly. Then we can all progress to sic tailwhips and stylish no-handers and have our faces on pinkbike video of the day! LOL.
