You broke my rack and didn't leave a note. I'd really appreciate a PM offering to reimburse me for the repair. You are well aware you hit it because when I got back to my car the slot my front tire should have gone is was bent down but the arm that holds the tire in place, which would have fallen to the ground upon the collision, had been physically picked up and moved to the other side so it wasn't resting on the ground. This is a brand new rack to me and literally was the first time I used it so was rather upset when I returned to my car to see this.

That stinks but do you really think it was someone on THTB?

I hate to hear about stuff like this. Racks are a big investment and a lot of us have them hanging in harms way, including myself. If mine got clipped I would be hard pressed even thinking about replacing it. I spend a lot of time riding wwc lately and the chut count is off the charts- people not waving/greeting back, clueless knobs getting upset about being carefully passed, TRAIL RUNNERS blocking. Etc.. I'd like to think that no one on this site is guilty of any of the above. I'd also like to think that the person lame enough to hit and run is probably one of the above.

Chuts...that's great. Trail runners +1 on that. why people have to be uptight is beyond me.  Hope your rack gets fixed up, that is pretty lame.

I do realize it is probably not someone on this forum but figured I'd post just in case. I'll probably end up paying for this myself but I figured i'd give it a shot to give the person a chance to avoid the karma that is coming there way. I'm sure they messed their bumper up as well.

Also, a good awareness for people to put their racks in the upright position out there and maybe a notice for the employee out there who rides the parking lot looking for people with food and beer from home to watch for this as well.

I'm sorry you had that experience (to be honest, one of the reasons I don't ride WWC is because of some of the clientele there). Honestly though, I highly doubt anyone on here would do something like that.

Is it fixable? Or are you going to have to replace it?

That sucks.  Was it folded up when that happened?  I have the same rack and I am trying to avoid something like that.  Guess I will park as far away from everyone else as I can.  Hopefully, replacement parts will not be too expensive.

I'll throw the positive out to you.....  At least the rack stopped them before they hit your car.  Dent in bumper = $1k now days......

Probably a long shot but have you checked with the WWC to see if they have cameras in the area you parked?

Happend to me 2 weeks ago - a young guy rear ended me on Providence during rushhour in a rainstorm. The center of his Jeep's bumper hit square on my old Thule rack - right at the hitch receiver level. It left a very prominent dent in the center of his bumber but didn't harm my Tahoe, the rack OR my bike. Kind of amazing the hitch pin seemingly took the entire brunt of the impact.

Good news is Kuat sells the rack in parts so able to get the one i need for <$100 vs a new rack of $500. I parked in the back and left my rack in the down position. Didn't really think much of it. Won't to it again, and recommend folding the rack upright to anyone else which is part of the reason i posted. By the looks of it, i am guessing someone was trying to drive past my car in an SUV and it caught the bottom of their front bumper. We asked guest services if they do anything. They don't have cameras or take claims/reports and advised us to call the police. For the record, WWC is one of my favorite places to ride, and I am in no way blaming them for this. Could have just as well happened anywhere.
