Lake Norman - many trees down...

Hi - I double checked the status and LKNSP was open and trails are in good condition, but there a numerous trees down on the Hawk trail (and options) and one place on the Monbo trail.

On the Monbo trail, there were 2 trees together down near the end of the trail before it blends back into 2-way. From what I remember, they were 8"-12" trees.

On the Hawk / Hicks Creek / Norwood trails, I came across 5 fallen trees. Some were only 5"-6" across, but others were wider (12"-15"). The big one on Norwood was around marker #10. There were 2 different sets of trees down around marker #3. I forget the #'s near the other trees.

My family said the rain on Thursday in Davidson was hard, but I hate to see what it was like at LKNSP.

Mike, I think you #42 on Laurel. I got that one this morning and one on Wildlife close to #51 right before the big dip. Also cleared a few wet areas on Fallstown and Wildlife. I didn't know about all the trees down, so I didn't have any chainsaws tools  with me. I rode this afternoon with Tom F. and PinkMTB (Lori) and that's when I found out about the trees down on that side of the park. All I had with me was my backpack with a few hand tools.

I just found out about the trees today I'm going in the morning to to make a list of all the trees are at and their location. I've msg mike and hoping we can get it all done on Saturday. Thanks for letting us know its hard to maintain 30 miles of trail with out people keeping us informed. I do a inspection once a month to check on the drains and any other work that needs to be done.

All the trees have been cleared to the best of my knowledge. I started at 9am and was back at my truck at 2pm. There was not a dry stitch on me! It was HOT!!! David Rodden was riding and stopped to help me out. Thanks, brother! If I missed any, please let me know.
Mike.

Hey Mike, THANK YOU!  If you ever need help on a weekend, post up. LNSP is a big place and in this heat, I'm sure it's no fun clearing trees.

x2 on this. I'm not able to during the week, but on a weekend I could offer assistance. I do 95% of my riding down here at LNSP, so I don't mind lending a hand out there

Thanks for all the work. After seeing all the downed trees on the older loops, I knew it was going to take some effort to clear them out. I figured it was going to be a weekend project though. Impressive   Wink

My ole Husky likes to work fast! I just try to keep up. I did have some help on Norwood Creek Loop from David Rodden and that made it go quicker.
